There is also another guy on SMS Power who´s making an ´Alex Kidd in Miracle World 2´.. it´s getting weird.
That KiddEd program is a nice thing, but I guess that a few hundred people have the same idea.

I definitely don't intend on selling my game. I can't see Sega making an issue out of it myself but I guess we'll see.
I'm hoping the other Alex Kidd 2 game drops the number and just has a subtitle, like you've suggested, to avoid confusion.

I'm reasonably tempted to buy this " Alex Kidd In Miracle World 2 " www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Alex-Kidd-In-miracle-word-2-Sega-MASTER-SYSTEM-/322399562299?hash=item4b1082ea3b:g:L9IAAOSwImRYii9eI've seen a video and it looks quite true to the original , also looks well made . Alex Kidd In Miracle World is my favourite game on the system so I'm all for new versions , I don't see much wrong with the title , it's not like Sega will ever do anything official with the franchise . Sega are not as bad as Nintendo when it comes to copyright , sure the streets of rage remake was taken down but their are also loads of Sonic fan made stuff that Sega have been ok with and even recently encouraged . |

I only discovered shinobi world last year and have to say its a cracking but its just far to short.

Ian has done a great job of making a game that follows on from the original's story line (which was left open), while adding new stuff that a true sequel would have done if Sega had made one (the closest thing - Enchanted Castle, doesn't really count to me). So calling it anything other than "2" wouldn't really fit. Its a homage to Segas fine work, not a profit making exercise - see the over priced ebay auction linked earlier for that!

Sorry Ian, you know I like you, but I think it is very arrogant to ignore the warnings you´ve got before. It is also cheeky to say that you´re hoping that the french guy is removing the ´2´ from his game (he ignored my advice as well, by the way). But it´s your risk, not mine or everyone´s else. It was just a well-meaning advice. I´m excited to see how many people will release an Alex Kidd 2 the next years, made with KiddEd  P.S.: I don´t say that your game is bad or anything, it has nothing to do with it. |

Always great to see new stuff on the SMS, Alex Kidd in Miracle World is one of my all time favourite games, can't wait to see what you've come up with!

But that's exactly what happened with Streets of Rage Remake. It's also what Nintendo is doing all the time, they shut down each and every attempt at a fan game. Other companies do it too like LucasArts going after a bunch of fans creating sequels to their favourite old LA games like Zak McKracken. Calling it really "Alex Kidd in Miracle World 2" is basically directly asking for a cease and desist which will shut down the project. It would be wise to use something different, like the mentioned Miracle World 2 or Return to Miracle World or whatever. I get what you're saying for sure, but we're talking here about like maybe 50 people worldwide owning an unlicensed sequel, as opposed to potentially hundreds as the Streets game was intended for PC. Even then, Sega didn't shut anything down, it's still out there. |

If the user base is small they don't seem to mind"nintendo didn't care about donkey kong jr for c64".If this was being released for PC it would get shut down because it's reaching a very large user base.Just to be clear I'm only going by what was released on other systems that nintendo did or didn't do,I don't know if sega is the same.I am aware of a homebrew released on the amiga"a smurfs game not being sold"and the creator was sued or was threatened by Peyo,he talked about it on one of the forums I'm a member of. csdb.dk/release/?id=134342 |
