Great idea, let's do it! Every 2 months gives plenty of time to get first impressions then any developing thoughts - and crucially accounts for real life... or other gaming commitments

Should we do easily obtainable games or use the fact so many of us own everdrive to play all sorts?

Should we do easily obtainable games or use the fact so many of us own everdrive to play all sorts? I honestly think everyone here falls into one of these categories: A. has complete or near complete collections B. has an everdrive C. won't be bothered with this anyways My thoughts, if you have the game and the time to play it - take part. No time or don't have the game, take part next month/time.

Im in, how do we choose a game?
How about each member of the game club gets to choose one? Put each signed up member into a hat and you get to choose in the order drawn?

Cast aside the old list and go for a random draw? I read a couple of the old threads and they were from 10 odd years ago, where emulation was less well available/accurate - not having the game meant you couldn't contribute. I think we have newer members as well to warrant a restart.
I like random because it stops people nominating their favourites and leaves us open to a surprise!

Great idea, count me in. This should give us something to talk about on the forum and hopefully increase activity here. Just an idea but wouldn't it be great to choose a game from each year of the life of the sms (at random for each year or it could get a bit drawn out) obviously starting with the games released in 1986 (See the games database on the main site and select year released) then moving on to 1987, 1988 and so on. This would give us an insight into how games evolved over the years on the sms and also give some of the earlier games that might otherwise be overlooked a chance (I recently played a few of the early games I'd previously overlooked and was quite impressed by their playability)

No time or don't have the game, take part next month/time. I hate to a be awkward but it seems I'm a separate bracket. I've had emulators and everdrives in the past on other consoles, but find it really dents my collecting enthusiasm so have vowed to not do that with the SMS. I'd like to take part in this if I have the games, but am quite happy to sit out the months where I don't (as you suggested), this could even lead me into buying some of the games to take part, which would be a good thing for my collection. Anyway, HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone, let's make 2017 an awesome one

I would suggest if/once approved by a moderator we sticky this (or another new) thread, have the sign up right here/there. Members choose their game in order of sign up. Transatlantic Foe said: Definitely need to throw out the old list - both member list and games played list. I think it may be hard to stop people from nominating their favorites... retrokevretro said: This could work, each member on the list has to choose a game by year released. We start with 1986 as you say, next member must choose from '87 and so on. Kind of takes away from the randomness of it though. soup said: I should have made my statement as - MOST EVERYBODY has complete/near complete collections and so on.... But you are right, it may inspire you to pick up a game here or there or you may have to take off a month here or there. No harm either way. I'm missing maybe 80 games or more so there will definitely be a game nominated that i don't have.

It could be called SMS evolution, because we are discovering how the games evolved rather than just playing for the sake of it, plus the game club has been and gone

I think we should start at 86 and put anything made prior to this in the same group. Just to give whoever is choosing a little more choice.

I think we should start at 86 and put anything made prior to this in the same group. Just to give whoever is choosing a little more choice. The more i think about it, I'm not thrilled with the idea of playing/choosing games in order of year released. I think we should make this as inclusive as possible, any restrictions/rules may diminish the likelihood of more members taking part. With only six games a year why place limitations? Each individual has the right to choose any game they want from any year. I would suggest we steer clear of country exclusive games or hacks though. Edit: And do we really need moderator approval/permission to make this happen? If we want to do it, lets do it!Of course it would be nice to have permission and a sticky I've updated the original post of this thread with interested members list.If you want in, let me know and I'll put you on the list. May as well get this thing started in the next day or two. I suggest we keep the same type of format that Stan had going in the previous game club. We'll keep track of who's turn it is here in this thread, choosing member creates new thread for their game of the month If you guys want i can put everyone's name in a hat and figure out an order
or we can go by order of response - whatever works for the masses.
Should include some background/review of the game, possibly screenshots or childhood memories of the game. Whatever, just something to get the discussion going....Thoughts?
