I'd love to come and chat games with you guys but it's unlikely I'll be in the area. If I am, I'll certainly fly by for a couple of hours.

I've bought my train ticket so I'll definitely be coming. Should we start thinking about the competition? We didn't have time for one last year. Maybe keep it even simpler than usual and do like 3 high score games

Has anyone played the Pool game thats part of Parlour Games? Someone on Instagram recommended it, infact they actually said it had become their favourite game on the system Possibly too long for the comp but could be a fun 2 player game at some point on the day?

On the subject of parlour games, how about a challenge based on bullseye. 101 or more in 6 darts, anyone that wins gets a cheap model speedboat

If you're up for the weekend there's also a retro arcade out in Bury. I gather it's easy enough to get to by tram from Manchester (trying to arrange a visit when I'm next up that way to see friends) www.arcadeclub.co.uk/

It's a good head-to-head game but yes, possibly too long for the competition. I wouldn't mind seeing the return of Super Space Invaders. I quite enjoyed the joint score co-op system to mix things up a little. Maybe we can try some other co-op games like Bubble Bobble, Fantasy Zone Maze, Quartet, Smash TV, Time Soldiers. Perhaps the whole thing could be a doubles competition We could also try one of the games on Arcade Smash Hits for a high score competition (although I woudln't want to take away from the SMS feel of the day by playing old arcade games).

Micro Machines doesn't have a timer, it'd need some hacking to add it in and to be honest that level is too simple for a fun attack. I'll suggest (as usual) a time attack on Alex Kidd: The Lost Stars, assuming it has a timer or some proxy, because it's actually a decent game if played that way. I'd add that two-player or co-op games are great fun for the day but take ages for a competition, so let's distinguish between the two purposes.
Does anyone know where the trophy got to?

I believe I'm the current champ but the trophy is with Playgen. Hopefully if he's coming he'll bring it with.

I thought it might be nice to have a new special 2016 trophy, I'll get one sorted.
(obviously this has nothing to do with me wanting to keep the only trophy I have ever won for anything...)

A new trophy sounds good. This time, have more foresight than I did and get one that doesn't have the year on it! dbloke made a cool golden controller trophy last time but it unfortunately did not make it home in one piece.
