Aerial Assault, if only the majority of the game were as exciting-looking as that cover!

Aerial Assault, if only the majority of the game were as exciting-looking as that cover! Absolutely love that cover, very Lichtenstein-esque. Does anyone know the artist responsible?

Just wondered what other work they'd done, it's not massively important though as it's still no match for the Geraldinho cover! I think several of the last wave of 1990 U.S. releases are by the same artist... Aerial Assault, Paperboy, Ghouls'n Ghosts, ESWAT.

My selections for Group O:
Zillion II - I think it's probably the same artist whose work I like on Dead Angle and Rescue Mission. This illustration is brimming with action. It works well in the minimalist style of the early box art, and it does a good job of indicating the differences in gameplay between Zillion II and its predecessor.
Special Criminal Investigation - This looks like it could be a frame from the craziest A-Team episode ever. The painting is masterfully rendered, and the rocket launcher parachuting into the scene is the icing on a cake made of pure adrenaline and motor oil.
Master of Darkness - If H.P. Lovecraft designed a game cover, it might look something like this. Well, it would probably have more tentacles in it, it's pretty intense. It's like tidal wave of evil is about to wash over our good Dr. Social. Lots of detail, great color, great composition... this one's gonna be a contender right to the end.
Honorable Mentions: The New Zealand Story - I've always wanted to try this game - I remember it being reported in U.S. magazines, with the caveat that it was never going to be released over here - and the cover is vibrant and inviting. Psycho Fox - another great ensemble illustration from the artist who brought us Basketball Nightmare and Alex Kidd in Shinobi World. Aerial Assault - intense action that flies off the package and gouges out your eyes with fun!!! My Hero - let's put on our rally caps for this masterpiece of minimalism, as the iconic villain of 1980s video games - the Punk - is given his what-for! Seriously, punks were like second only to ninjas as villains in the 80s... at least ninjas got to be heroes, too. American Pro Football - let there be no doubt about how highly people in the PAL territories think of the sport us Americans call football. SPLURP!

Predator 2: that's Predator, being cool as a... Predator! SCI: this was one of hardest choices, but had to appreciate the action Master of Darkness: a potential winner
Almost voted: Superman, Aerial Assault, Spider-Man

Aerial Assault - Really like how this just explodes across the cover The Ninja - My favourite of all the early artworks. It maybe technically very simple, but at the time this sort of artwork looked modern, as with the grid pattern it appeared to be designed and drawn on a computer. When at the time most computers around weren't very capable at all, it looked impressive. My Hero - Punks were the staple enemy of any 80's or early 90's beat-em-up, and on this cover the girlfriend stealing non society conforming villan gets center stage

I picked Zillion II, Superman and Aerial Assault US.
I really like the artistic style used on the cover of Zillion II and the colours used. I just wish the game was more of an enhanced version of the original.
I think Imay have bought Superman back in the day based on this cover. Not sure exactly what I like about it, it just looks cool.
The US Aerial Assault cover is fantastic, I love how the image takes over the spine and back.
Runners up here were Taz Escape from Mars, Spider Man Sinister Six, Psycho Fox and Masters of Darkness.. Quite a strong group actually.
