The US version of Captain Silver is a brilliant piece of art! I would say the big stand out in this group

The US version of Captain Silver is a brilliant piece of art! I would say the big stand out in this group I never realized that the U.S and Pal art was different before this. One more big thanks to rupert for all the hard work put into this!

I've never noticed how odd the Chase HQ cover art is before! It's a very strange art style I don't think appears in any other SMS cover art.

My selections for Group H:
Out Run - A minimalist icon based on the memorable title screen logo. Understated, classy and with a bit of chibi, superdeformed style.
Chase H.Q. - A humorous illustration, reminiscent of the anarchic style of Mad Magazine and CARtoons Magazine. (If you've never seen CARtoons, it was a well-established American comic magazine that featured cars... a good number of excellent artists contributed over the course of about three decades, including director/Monty Python alum Terry Gilliam).
Captain Silver - Nice flowing composition framed by the ship's sails. I recently learned that the U.S. version is pared down to a one mega cartridge, compared to the PAL two mega cartridge. But I'd give the artwork edge to this release.
Honorable Mentions: Basketball Nightmare - the funky airbrush artist who did Alex Kidd in Shinobi World and several other titles returns with another nice composition. California Games - I think most of us have fond memories of this rollerskate woman. Correct me if I'm wrong. Winter Olympics: Lillehammer 94 - a gripping rendering of the psychotic speed involved in many winter sports. Action Fighter - another good iconic cover that will get trounced in this tournament, yet nicely sums up the theme of the game.

California Games - I think most of us have fond memories of this rollerskate woman. Correct me if I'm wrong. You are not wrong. To be honest I almost voted for Cali Games simply based on the fact there is a fine looking women in a bathing suit. Goes to show that even though I am quickly approaching 40, I still have thoughts like a 12 year old!

So far all of my choices for this group are in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. Surprising!

I chose Chase HQ, Captain Silver and Winter Olympics.
I like ths cartoon style of the Chase HQ art, like Ian says its different from anything else. Perhaps sligtly similar to the ship on the cover of Xenon II?
The US Captain Silver art is so much better than the Euro version, makes me want to play it now.
Winter Olympics looks really exciting and vibrant, I really like how that ski pole (is that the right word for it?) penetrates the main artwork and invades the text on the back!

Chase HQ - so different to any other cover for the SMS Golden Axe - Very iconic imagery, looks almost 3D rendered in parts. Ghouls and Ghosts - Nostalgic choice

Heroes of the Lance - Crap game, awesome cover at least if you're into Fantasy and Dragonlance, it's great Chase H.Q. - has a really weird style, as some other said, kinda like Mad magazine or something like that Captain Silver - Way better than the EU cover, i always liked pirats Nearly voted for: Andre Agassi Tennis, that haircut is just too awesome and the beard goes with it just perfectly
