That Dragon Crystal cover is really cool, so is Fire and forget! It's going to be real hard to pick a winner from all of these when all is said and done!

Yeah it was between that and Ys for me, but then I thought, Dragon Crystal could be any type of game just looking at the cover, Ys makes it pretty clear and it looks cooler.

True, Ys would make my fourth spot here It's a game I've tried to get so many times but always seem to get outbid, even had one lost in the post lol

My selections for Group G:
Fire & Forget II: Post-apocalyptic nihilism translated into high-speed, technicolor awesomeness. Just a glance will tell you that this game is bad as hell (whether or not it actually is). You can practically feel the heatwave coming off of this cover.
Space Gun: Another fine painting for a Taito title, with a very stylish composition, seemingly of a warning shot being fired - as if there's any question that the battle is about to begin.
Ys: The Vanished Omens: This appears to be another cover from one of my favorite SMS illustrators, whose work can also be seen on Rastan, Time Soldiers, and a few others. Absolutely beautiful lighting and color, exquisite pen and ink work, reminiscent of Charles Burns in some ways.
Honorable mentions: Alex Kidd in Shinobi World - one of the best examples of this funky airbrushed style, the character designs are cute without being cloying. Dragon Crysal - a well-painted collection of fantasy RPG tropes. Out Run 3-D - a nice image that is undermined by the apparent presence of Ward and June Cleaver, wearing crash helmets?!
Dishonorable mention: Secret Command. The only truly awful SMS cover. Even the lettering is off its center-justification, as if the 'o' in Commando had been deleted as an afterthought.

For this group I went with Fire & Forget II, Outrun 3D and Cosmic Spacehead. The first two are great covers but I also love cars so that gave them bonus points for me. Cosmic Soacehead is a game I had back in the day and I really enjoyed it despite mixed reviews - I remember trying to copy the artwork into one of my school books With Outrun 3D I really like how it's quite a stormy scene and not just the usual sunshine. I also love that blue Porsche! Space Gun, Y's and Dragon Cystal are all really nice too. Alex Kidd in Shinobi World has always been on of my most favourite games so it was a little battle in my head not to pick it. Also Sonic Chaos is another game I had back in the day, i'm just not feeling that artwork quite as much as the first two Sonic games. I really hate that Dynamite Duke cover, what were they thinking?!

Fire & Forget II deserves this one. That art made me want to play it when I bought it and still does. Christ I want to play it now even and it's late.

Sonic Chaos: another good Sonic cover Pacmania: jolly old Pacman Dragon Crystal: that's great cover for anything; I'd buy this whether it's game, movie, book or box of cereals (so obviously I have the game)
Almost voted: Space Gun, Alien Storm, Kenseiden, Ys, Out Run 3D - really tough round

Enduro Racer - Another simple but iconic artwork. You could spot an SMS game like this from a mile away, really helped seperate it from the identical looking cardboard boxed games for all the home computers and systems of the time. Cosmic Spacehead - Captures the style of the game really well Sonic Chaos - Another nice Sonic artwork

I'm really surprised about Space Gun being second. It's a generic alien monster with a gun in front that doesn't even shot at it but shoots up in the sky, what's with that?!
My choices: Sonic Chaos - Lame game but again the cover promises exciting Sonic action in high speed Dragon Crystal - Nice RPG Cover, i love fantasy stuff Fire & Forget II - as a german magazine put it: a game to truly forget but the cover is nice, gives me a Fallout vibe and looks exciting
