Hey, Sega peeps! As mentioned in a previous thread I'm making a video game music mix. I'm thinking of calling it The Ultimate 8-Bit Traveling Mix. I was thinking of it as a mix to play while I'm driving around but I don't want to limit it to just driving or just music from driving games necessarily. I was waiting until I could find a particular remix of the Ducktales Moon Theme and I finally found it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=xodC85HAXLkAnyway, I'm finding a lot of the C64 music great for this purpose. I'm already including music from Commando, Midnight Resistance and The Last Ninja. Of course, I'll be including music from Outrun and F-Zero as well. However, as a lot of VG music is brief I'm finding I have lots of room left over and should probably keep expanding it to at least a reasonable length. Anyone have any suggestions as to what might work as a killer track in this mix? P.S. It doesn't necessarily have to be just 8-bit music either. It can be a latter remix, like the Ducktales remix, I just want it to have that chiptune vibe P.P.S. When done I'll mix it down to one continuous mp3 and attach it here so that you can hear

The longer epic tunes work well here. I recommend the Space Harrier BIOS FM+PSG mix and the Micro Machines character select tune, both long and awesome in different ways and with a good driving vibe.

Maybe a C64 title theme remix of Supremacy would be good for a nighttime drive? link

You have to have the Zillion main theme in there, it's one of the most epic songs I've heard in gaming.
The Avicii Super Mario World mix is also excellent:

Thanks for the suggestions, all! Some of them are working out very nicely with what I already have. However, I'm still only about half way through a full length CD mix. Any others?

The Out Run tracks have a few variants, why not include more than one? Arcade, PSG, FM, etc.

Hmmm...I used to work as a DJ and I just have a thing about not repeating myself in the same set I loved your first suggestions though! I found some more songs. I'm about 4/5ths through the mix now. I've got room for about 5 or 6 more songs left. I'll look around for some others and then try to put the finishing touches and finish it by tomorrow night. Let me know before then if there's anything else you think I should add. Thanks again for all the suggestions.

Here's some more tunes I like.
I'd be interested in getting a copy of your final mix!

Darn! I'm done my mix and I'm really happy with it. I'd love to share it but it's an almost 120MB mp3. Any suggestions as to how to go about doing this? This site only allows for 1MB attachments, unfortunately.

Thanks, man! And thanks to everyone here who helped me work it out. I really appreciate it! I'm already thinking about another VGM mix but I'm going to let that idea bake awhile before I serve it up to ask for your help again. Have a great summer everyone!
