Hey, everybody! I've been checking out Sega CD games in an emu lately and I'm wondering what games you think are good for it? I'm particularly interested to know what conversions from Genesis/MD you think are better on the CD.

Great Games: - Snatcher - Robo Aleste - Keio Flying Squadron - WWF Rage in the Cage (Probably the best version of the Acclaim WWF 16-Bit games, mostly the same graphics and gameplay as WWF Royal Rumble but featuring CD Music of the Entrance Themes, voiced wrestler introductions and extremely grainy videos of the finishing moves) - Rise of the Dragon (Great enhanced version of the PC classic) - Dark Wizard - Heart of the Alien - Flashback - Spider-Man vs. the Kingpin (Highly improved with voice acting, cutscenes, more/different levels, more bossfights, more moves and other things) - Eternal Champions: Challenge From the Dark Side (improved sequel of the MD game) - Popful Mail - Final Fight CD (probably the best conversion of the arcade game back then) - Earthworm Jim: Special Edition (extended levels, one new level, great soundtrack. way better than the cartridge version) - Shining Force CD (contains the 2 Game Gear games in enhanced versions) - Ecco the Dolphin (The great Soundtrack alone makes it better than the Cartridge version) - NHL 94 (It's a classic, on CD it has videos, voice acting and a better soundtrack and sound effects. Definitely superior to the cartridge version) - Road Rash CD (i think it's a conversion of the 3DO game with a cheesy mid-90's alt. rock soundtrack - Android Assault: Revenge of Bari-Arm - Road Avenger (though some hate it, some love it. i think it's one of the better "Press a Button"-FMV Games) - Sol-Feace and of course Sonic CD (where people to this day debate if the US or Japanese Soundtrack is better)
I guess the Lunar games and Vay are also good, at least you always read about them being great but since i don't like JRPG's, i can't say a lot about them.

Thanks for the recommends, SA! I'll have to check out the ones on your list that I haven't yet. I think Road Avenger is cool too. No problem about the JRPGs. I'm not an RPG fan at all. In spite of having heard people wax ecstatic about them for years I have yet to find one that I'm truly over the moon about. Don't get me wrong. I understand and embrace the premise: to be a playable character in an interactive adventure. Where they lose me is in having to read pages of badly written text; bogging me down in too much or a too complex resource management and boring, turn-based style combat.
Having said that, I recently heard about an RPG series called Star Ocean, that's loosely inspired by Star Trek and done in an anime style reminiscent of Star Blazers. Being a Star Trek fan (and a Star Blazers fan) I'm checking out the remakes they made for the PSP. It uses a more real time combat system that makes it a little more fun although the battles never seem all that challenging to me. A bit of running, a few button presses and the characters are congratulating themselves on screen. Mind you, I haven't played that far into it yet so maybe this will get better. I think that perhaps the ideal RPG for me would be something like what Yu Suzuki first imagined for Shenmue: a sort of open world adventure that would switch to a Virtua Fighter style game for combat. Unfortunately, due to the realities of his day, he had to compromise with quicktime events instead. While I don't really mind that aspect of the game it would've been so much better if he could've pulled off what he first imagined. This is what I hope for Shenmue 3, if it ever happens. I think the technology is capable of achieving it now. Thanks again for your suggestions!

The terminator is a great game that is vastly improved on It's actually quite a bit different than the Mega Drive version to the point where i don't consider it an "improved version". It has better graphics, sounds but also re-designed levels that are different, a better difficulty courve and some gameplay enhancements. It's a good game.

And with grainy fmv its the icing on the cake.
I have had my terminator CD from brand new as it was seriously reduced to £12 or something like that and even though I have completed it a few times I still return to it for another blast.
