I love Video Game Music (VGM). The SMS has some nice original music as well as nice rearrangements of arcade themes or music from other game systems.
One of my fave SMS originals is from Ashura/Rambo II/Secret Command(o). The music for stages 2,4 & 6 (based on the short title theme). That composition is given the title "Never to Return" in the credits and credited to "Derby Tatsuo" which could be an alias for someone else because I can't find any other music credited to him (or her).
I've also mentioned the Ninja Gaiden(SMS) music in my other thread. The composer "Fumi" (real name probably Takashi Horiguchi) also did the music for Master of Darkness, but I think his Ninja Gaiden soundtrack is superior and possibly the best original SMS soundtrack.
I think that some SMS musicians have also done very good rearrangements of the music of arcade games such as Rastan, R-Type and Darius II(Sagaia). Iku Mizutani's rearrangement of Hisayoshi Ogura's original music to Taito's Darius II gives it a more poignant sound despite the inferior hardware. Ogura's "avant-garde music" concept for the Darius games produced some interesting music, but I think some of it needed to be rearranged a bit to make it sound good.

Yeah the Master System rearrangement of Tohru Nakabayashi's Altered Beast soundtrack gives it a different feel, for example the Stage 1 music is a bit more melancholic than the arcade's heavily rhythmic version.

Bob, where did you find the name Takashi Horiguchi in relation to Fumi?

Bob, where did you find the name Takashi Horiguchi in relation to Fumi? The "Video Game Music Preservation Society" website has a page on Takashi Horiguchi. It lists "Ninja Gaiden" and "Master of Darkness" as two of his works and also notes he uses the alias "Fumi". SMSpower credits one of these games to Fumie Kumatani, but someone replies saying that "Fumi" is in fact not Fumie Kumatani.

Hello friend i Ami I also love the song from Never To Return, it is one of my favorites of all the Master System games and I am also in search of who is or who was Derby Tatsuo as well as we already know Wooper Katshu (his accomplice and my favorite composer) I would love to know who was the creator of that wonderful song if someone could know some detail no matter how small thanks

Iโm pretty impressed by the people who made the music for the sms games, it must have been a large work to make game music back then, that actually not blow your ears in parts. The sound is really a big part of a good game.
Some of the games I think have some of the best sounds/music (that I have played so far๐) is:
Moonwalker Star Wars Sonic the hedgehog Castle of illusions Asterix Alex Kidd in miracle world

Alot of the music does my head in. Just sounds like tinny noise, but Moonwalker wins hands down.
At least you can sing along to it as your kicking the enemies in the head. ๐
