Hello Sega8bit community!
I am the former webmaster/creator of an old SMS fansite I called the SMS Information Station. Aside from the Internet Wayback machine, our friends at SMS Power! still have a crossed out link to it. The SMS community on the 'net is very long lived! I started collecting the SMS way back in 1997 until I reached a couple of personal goals: A complete USA set of games and every EU game I could find at a reasonable price.
My friends from back then moved onto other things, and I guess, so did I. I moved on when prices per game became too high for me to stomach. Enjoy what you have, ya know? I never stopped enjoying the SMS, which is probably why I never sold it, unlike a lot of other seasoned collectors.
In the past month I have learned about the homebrew cart possibilities and I have made purchases to see if I can enjoy a few prototypes on real hardware (and play some new games I missed out on when I was active).
I also have a few opinion questions for the group, so I am looking forward to participating here!

Welcome buddy, nice to read something from a long-time SMS owner! I moved on when prices per game became too high for me to stomach. Enjoy what you have, ya know? I know. I would never try to get a full PAL set again these days, but only the games I want to play. It´s the best way to go today! In the past month I have learned about the homebrew cart possibilities and I have made purchases to see if I can enjoy a few prototypes on real hardware (and play some new games I missed out on when I was active). Which homebrews did you got? I have some sources for homebrews and cartmodds, I could send you some links via PM if you like.

Nothing yet, but reproducing prototypes is what has me really excited and back in the community. I have researched and I hope I have everything I need for when the local weather warms up. My big question: Monopoly has the mapper chip in some carts, but will the cart handle more than a 1Mbit game without modification? If it doesn't, then I have a problem...and a lot of Monopoly/Mono Poly games.

Hello! Nice to have one of the old guard around. How things have changed eh? Well, postage has certainly gone up, along with game prices. In the few years since I was really active, I only managed to add three games. One of my favorite keepsakes from my active EU game period is a sheet of used postage stamps I put together. There is a certain beauty in used postage stamps from the UK (where the bulk of them came from). It was a lot of fun back then being able to have the chance at seeing a cartridge system in the wild out on the shelf. Nowadays every shop has an auction arm of some sort, so a lot of the thrill (at getting a deal/seeing it in hand) is gone. Still, you can get lucky. Most SMS stuff has always been beyond hard to find here in the USA.

I live about 2 hours from Houston and San Antonio and about 1 1/2 hours from Corpus Christi and Sega Master System things are like Unicorns in the wild. I find a few in the larger cities but not many items.
