've just had my mind BLOWN today! Spent some time playing with the MS Everdrive I received (doing a review for my podcast soon) and I'd heard rumours that the Japanese version (or Mark III) of Enduro Racer was a bit different with its title screen etc. Plugged it in to see that was the case plus it has a whole other track! This completely changes the challenge and game itself especially as you race it a couple of times with cars and bikes, the amazing thing is it can be quite difficult seeing as its the very first track you face. I can only assume when Sega wanted to make the budget games it decided to slash the 2 Megabit size of the MKIII version down to fit on the piddly budget cart so things like the title screen and a whole track were slashed. I'm just gobsmacked after loving this game for so, so long and finding this out I feel like I've been ripped off all these years Makes me wonder what other games were cut back like this.

I can't recall offhand, but I seem to remember at least one other instance of a game being truncated for its Western release. On the one hand, yeah, it's a major drag. But on the other hand, it's kind of like a bonus for us all these years later to discover a whole new part of an excellent game.

Haven't played the Japanese version in some time but if I remember correctly there are 5 tracks slashed. The Japanese version has 10 unique tracks that loop once for a total of 20 races. The American/European has 5 tracks that loop once for a total of 10 races.
And yeah, I believe it was a budget decision.
When it comes to other games, can't recall any Japanese to USA/Euro but there is the Captain Silver case where it was slashed down for the American release thus has lesser levels and bosses compared to the European & Japanese version.
