Just read that Dusty Rhodes died. One of the all-time biggest legends in the ring (his matches with Flair are legendary) and one of the best bookers in the history: Inventing the Bunkhouse Stampede and the WarGames Match and his genius move in turning Nikita Koloff Face when just prior he was the absolut most hated Heel in wrestling.

He was a great guy indeed, it makes me sad because 69 isn´t very old for someone like him. My condolences to his family and friends.
The American Dream will dance in the sky now.

It's extra sad because he had lost a lot of weight and apparently lived a much healthier life style.
Dusty was a legend in many ways, but I will always remember him for his promos. Came from a generation where you had to do money promos to sell tickets to the arenas and nobody could do them as well as Dusty (helped of course that the promos weren't written for him by some writers like they do in WWE now which is why most interviews suck nowadays).
Two promos first at 1:02 and then at 9:04
And of course can't mention Dusty promos without his most famous one:

It's extra sad because he had lost a lot of weight and apparently lived a much healthier life style. As sad as it is and it is sad, 69 years is an age a lot of wrestlers don't even reach. I read comments about people thinking Dusty is "immortal" because he is so "old" which made me think that we really grew to accept that wrestlers die young. Dusty truly was no stranger to danger but i think it's exceptional that a guy who was big in the 80's with all the drugs and steroids running wild who also had to deal with WCW bullshit for years and years got so old. But i'm mostly sad since Dusty was awesome back then as i said before, had a ton of awesome matches and even as this joke of character in the WWF had memorable moments. Also to think of: Dusty was completely out of shape, was a white southern guy talking like he's coming out of the Bronx and got people over, you have to have some big balls especially back then in the early 80's, especially as a heel to bring that in southern territories and yet i doubt anybody truly hated him. Dusty was on a level of his own: Not the greatest wrestler, not the greatest talker, not a lot of charisma and certainly no sex appeal but he drew the masses in, he mesmerized everybody and influenced a ton of wrestlers and even Vince McMahon(his commentary style was just an untalented rip off of Dusty's promos if you go back and watch them in the 80's) which kinda makes it sad that Vince felt the need to mock him with Virgil.

Yesterday, the wrestling world has lost another legendary superstar. I am still speechless about this huge loss, ´Rowdy´ Roddy Piper´s heart stopped beating while he was asleep. He brought us a lot of amazing and funny moments we will never forget. Farewell Roddy, you crazy guy!

Shane McMahon came back, and while that's not enough to actually sit through Raw, I've been youtubing his segments

Wow, what a low activity rate in the pro wrestling thread. I think it´s time to give it some new fuel This year, I began to reactivate my interest in the german Westside Xtreme Wrestling promotion. I visited their Superstars of Wrestling show in Hamburg to see some of the best german wrestlers there (like Bad Bones) and international superstars like Gangrel, Sonjay Dutt and Double J Jeff Jarrett, it was awesome. On december 3, they visited Berlin and brought the TNA Knockouts championesse Rosemary (a.k.a. Courtney Rush) with them. I had the chance to talk to her a bit and it was amazing. She is a bit shy, but when she begins to play her role, she is super crazy. I love it I also had the chance to see Doug Williams, Shanna and Saraya Knight at another show. Saraya kicks ass! My interest in women´s wrestling got bigger and bigger during the last few years. I think that women´s wrestling and it´s storylines is often more intense than the ones of their male equivalents. I am a huge fan of Su Yung now, her undead bride gimmick is just genious (created by Saraya Knight). She won two important championships recently (the Queens of Combat title and the WSU Spirit Championship) and she deserved it. I am also following Smackdown and particularly NXT, because AJ Styles and Kana (asuka in NXT) are my favourite pro wrestlers. WWE (which means Smackdown) got a bit better this year, but I still prefer a good independent show. Stardom is also a good promotion, I am watching some of their shows at the moment.

I don't even watch wrestling anymore, i'm still interested in it, i still follow the releases from Kayfabe Commentaries, play TEW 2016 (where Hogan and his blinking creative control drives me nuts) and currently read Titan Shattered from James Dixon, which is pretty good, but that's about it...

Wrestling has changed a lot, I know many people who gave up watching it (except older shows from the past). I often miss the oldschool style and all this tech firework is too much at many points.

Wrestling has changed a lot, Not really and i think that's the problem, it's stuck in the same world it was 8-9 years ago, nothing is moving forward. WWE is rehashing the same old crap over and over and bringing back old guys. TNA is dead. GWF never took off not that i ever though it would. Everything else also is stuck in a loop by now so much so that even the "7 year rule" doesn't work anymore.

I meant wrestling itself, not the storylines. The focus lies more and more on technical stuff, and sometimes I miss some old school style matches. But women´s wrestling is amazing at the moment, I love Su Yung. Of course most storylines repeat themselves after some time, just with different people. But I have to say that I prefer to see guys like Goldberg coming back than seeing someone like Dolph Ziggler WWE signs loads of wrestlers from the independent circuit for quite some time now; but it doesn´t mean that I like that. Good for the talents, bad for fans. Oh and WWE has those luminous ringposts now, a giant leap for mankind (Edit: It seems they removed them now, phew^^) And the german Westside Xtreme Wrestling promotion is awesome, it´s always worth a visit when they stop by your city. For Global Force (I guess you meant them with GWF), it´s a pity for sure.

On Kayfabe Memories there was a discussion about best wrestlers of all time lists and a topic about the best female wrestlers ever altough since the board has a cutoff year 2001 by now (thankfully, before it was 1989) it doesn't involve normal names. Anyway, i put a list together and shockingly, it got approval from some members who previously called me out for saying that Johnny Saint could be in the attitude era ("what is a johnny saint" they asked and i'm not kidding) 1. Aja Kong 2. Manami Toyota 3. Jaguar Yokota 4. Mildred Burke 5. Chigusa Nagayo 6. Lioness Asuka 7. Akira Hokuto 8. Dump Matsumoto 9. Megumi Kudo 10. Bull Nakano 11. Fabulous Moolah 12. June Byers 13. Jackie Sato 14. Toshiyo Yamada 15. Penny Banner 16. Noriyo Tateno 17. Mae Weston 18. Wendi Richter 19. Kyoko Inoue 20. Mae Young I stopped in the 80's otherwise Meiko Satomura would be in the list I really thought long about who to put at nr. 1. There were several candidates obviously. I chose Aja simply based on the fact that she has been active for over 30 years with no breaks (unlike Jaguar who retired twice for long stints), is still a big draw in Japan (current Sendai World Champion), was part of one of the best feuds in wrestling (against Toyota), has put on an insane long list of amazing matches (and still is involved in great matches like last year against Meiko Satomura) and isn't slowing down (unlike Chigusa Nagayo who should've retired some years ago, imo) and also ran her own promotion (Hyper Visual Fighting Arsion) for a couple years, which was pretty good. Also of course everybody knows that the master system pro wrestling game was released in japan with women wrestlers and dump matsumoto and her stable (still doesn't make it a good game though )

("what is a johnny saint" they asked and i'm not kidding) No words... Anyway, i put a list together No Cutie Suzuki? Just kidding To be honest, I am familiar with actual women´s wrestling only. But I know women like Aja and Manami Toyota of course (because they are still active, like you mentioned before). I´m pretty sure your best of all time-list is appropiate though All I can say is that Aja deserves rank 1 for sure, she´s one of those women I don´t want to get in trouble with To be active for so long and still good deserves respect. Also of course everybody knows that the master system pro wrestling game was released in japan with women wrestlers and dump matsumoto and her stable (still doesn't make it a good game though ) I see, I should buy a japanese Master System soon. Or not? Mmmmh xD
