I got another venue for you.
Its in Stockport, I have full access for all the weekend so might turn it into a 48 hour gaming-a-thon (time might be reduced), its also quite big Will be end of August

As long as it's available on a weekend I'm sure it will work for most. Would they have TV's we could use?

Things are a bit different now I have full control of things.
I might be cancelling this as I am getting very little support from others (No change there then)

If you mean support from the forum perhaps you just need to post a few more details to make it seem more organised and inviting. See the old sega8bit event threads I made. Even then we only had around 7-10 people attend but to me that is a success as this is a relatively small and geographically wide community of busy people.

Its in general, as I asked for help from other games nights in Manchester to make it a big collaboration and to exchange ideas and most don't want to work together Even the big weekend ones dont (Play expo is understandable as they have loads round the country) (Revival guys are now doing a weekend thing almost every weekend) The ones that can dont know till the month before hand and thats no good if im going to promote it and get flyers done out of my own pocket I might add. Believe it, a lot of back stabbing and name calling goes on. Also the lack of enthusiasm about it kills it for me Ill try for next year when I dont have as much life stuff going on

I think the small forum events have been really good in the past and nice size so that everyone speak to everyone and gets involved with the comp etc. Larger multi platform events are good fun too but I personally have found them to be less sociable and not as much actual gaming happens. I think all we are looking for is a space big enough for 10-15 people max and able to set up 5 - 8 systems, thats it really. Preferably geographically central for the bulk of the attendees.

I think we need to pull our fingers out, start agreeing on details and start being firm and have an attitude change from 'it would be nice if this happened' to 'this WILL happen becuase we say it will' I am first to concede that venues have been a right pain in the backside, the venue I could get was far from ideal (the shop closed at 5 and we would have to be packing up by then). also with getting married in july and working 1 saturday in 4 my flexibility hasnt been great, we need to get up and move on this, I take the secret santa as an example and at risk of blowing my own trumpet, it worked for 2 reasons: 1. I had the support of some great members on here 2. I was determined it would work and was not taking no for an answer it has been very hard trying to find an alternative venue, if you guys really want this to happen then lets do it but as Mike has said, its too much work for one person to do without others committing to the cause, but also as Rupert has said, we dont need a huge venue, if we got 8 systems and 16 people playing on those systems we would have plenty. if you guys want this to happen i just need a few to say 'yes andy, i want this to happen, i can make it to *places* on *dates*, and to make this happen i can do *whatever contribution you can do*' put it on here, put it in a pm to me, i really dont care but the time for 'maybe' has ended and the time for 'oh heck yes' has well and truly started, and if i can do my best to get this off the ground with numerous non gaming commitments that i wont go into here, i am pretty sure that some others can work on this too and breathe
