There's some funny tastes in shirts going on here and also a bit of a lack of understanding of the importance of low-colour vector art for screen printing vs. crappy "your photo on a shirt" prints.

In the end I couldn't decide between two ideas I had, so I've done a front/back design combining them: (Click the image to enlarge).

Here's an idea I had... kind of minimal, understated yet iconic... we all know the world's greatest flow chart: I was thinking keep it small and stylish, but here's the close-up:

Do any of you know if this competition has been scrapped? Ninjabearhug wrote that it'd be good to have it done by X-mas, but hasn't been on since early October it seems..

This sounds like a great idea! I've always wanted to create a design for a Sega T-shirt! I thought this would be a nice occasion to do this, so I wanted to cook something up this weekend - The result: Here's my entry! T-shirt Front: i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa205/_Korax_/Tshirtfinal3.jpgAs it turned out, I stuck to my initial idea of making a "family photo" kind of situation, where I took Green Hill Zone as the scenery, while arranging the heroes and villains from the SEGA games, side by side. I also added some of the old grid design from the game boxes. The image posted in the link is only 20% of the actual size of the image (so you wont have to zoom out to see the full view) - the actual image is more around 30cm in width, and 40cm in height, at 300 dpi (which is around 3500 x 4700 pixels - this was recommended by several t-shirt design pages). The optional backside? (Hehe i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa205/_Korax_/T-shirtback.jpgAs much as I love Mario and Nintendo, I am a Sega boy at heart, and therefore I find it fun to have a go at the Nintendo fanboys from time to time Therefore I made a small, eventual backside to the t-shirt design, lol. I got the idea from the guy who made the MEKA emulator, where I remember there's a setting in the "Options" area of the emulator, where you have an empty checkbox saying "Mario is not a fat plumber" - if you try to check it, the emulator will give you a message saying "You cannot deny the facts." - I found this rather amusing, so to pay homage to the guy, I thought it would make a good backside I hope you guys will like my suggestions I think this ones awesome I'd order 2/3 straight away

If nothing comes of this contest, I would still like to have a shirt made of this right here. I dont think I could have come up with a better idea if I tried. The only thing I would change is I would remove "A master system fansite" and just leave the Sega8bit.com there by itself.

I'd like the Mario on the back too

Not me. I would honestly prefer the front picture actually be on the back and the front just have a Sega8bit.com logo on it. The one on the front can have the "A master system forum" part under it.
I know Sega vs Nintendo is common but I like Nintendo too. If it was Sony vs Microshaft, then yeah, you can put screw Xbox everywhere ... but thats just my personal opinion.
For this shirt, I just want it to be pro Sega not con anything.

It's a fun design, but very difficult for a screen-printed t-shirt. It looks like it uses most of the SMS color palette. I expect it would be as expensive a screen printing job as possible with all those colors to separate and try to keep registered.

I expect it would be as expensive a screen printing job as possible with all those colors to separate and try to keep registered. As it is now, the design I made would be for digital print. I don't know how the shirts from earlier contests were made, and since there were no rules for this contest, except the "it has to have sega8bit.com somewhere on the shirt", I went along with making a more "complex" design. Screen-printing is more vibrant, and way more durable indeed, but since this apparently is not a requirement I saw no reason to limit the detail of my design. However, I suppose I could alter the design and reduce the colors used to make it viable for screen-printing if needed.
