What is the most relaxing SMS game in your opinion? A game with minimal effort that you can put in and play just before falling asleep or just want to chill out.
I would probably go with Shanghai, Parlour Games or maybe even Leaderboard, but of course any game you have played so much that you can beat without effort could also be put in this category but that seems more like a personal choice rather than a universal.

Columns is the most obvious suggestion or anything of that ilk like Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine etc. Baku Baku would be a good choice but that's a lot more available on the Game Gear than the SMS as are a lot of those neat little puzzle games.
Some of the sports games might be worth a look as well. Sensible Soccer and Wimbledon spring to mind.
I think a good guideline would be games that don't have loud music and only minimalist sound effects. The main thing that stops me from adding Digger Chan to this list is that it has music and no sound effects, which I find very annoying. My attitude towards it is this: If you can do music and sound effects, do both; if you can't do both, do sound effects.
Another game that I would really like to add to this list is California Games, but sadly the SMS version lacks the pick-me-up factor of the Atari Lynx version; four events, four nifty tunes, no competition mode, no complex score system.

Twitch puzzle games wouldn't be very relaxing. How about Out Run, with a choice of chillout music?

Putt & Putter for me. The gameplay and music on that relax me even when I'm most stressed. That or Populous.

Another game that can be quite relaxing is Ghostbusters. You just go around catching ghosts and you either make enough money to face Gozor or you don't.
I prefer the original C64 version as it's more effective in terms of recreating the intensity of the film, but the SMS version has superior game mechanics and is just as good a game in its own right.

I think Wonderboy with its basic platforming game-play and simple level design makes a relaxing game. You can just 'zone out' when playing it, there's not much that breaks the constant flow of the game.
Some might call them frustrating games, but I'd class My Hero and Paperboy as relaxing. As although they are tough games a playing session doesn't last very long, so instead of being frustrated I tend to quickly play again and again trying to progress further each time. Its easy to play these games over and over in one sitting, whereas with a longer game I wouldn't bother trying again after losing as it takes too long to play through.

Columns is the most obvious suggestion Columns on the later Levels is anything but relaxing, it gets fast and insane quickly - just like Tetris, i don't thnis that is relaxing at all. For relaxing games i suggest Parlous Games as neither Darts, Billards or Binbo are too challenging and they're low paced. Sonic Chaos - it's easy and i mean really easy, not even the Bonus Stages are a real challeng World Class Leader Board - 80's realistic Golf (which means not as realistic as Links 2003 but still good enough) and you can take as much time as you need Enduro Racer - The european Release is quite simple Arcade Smash Hits - Blockout is quite simple compared to Arkanoid and later similar games, Missile Command may be a bit fast paced but still and Centipede is the same, can be learned quickly, is a bit of a challenge later but still far from the fast paced action games that came later. Ghostbusters is another good try, the only fast paced stage is the beginning to get 10000 credits, after that you control the pace, unlike the nes version the spook central is controlled by the player. Shanghai, it's classic Mahjong Alex Kidd: The Lost Stars - A Jump n' Run but as easy and slow paced as possible, you can take your time, nothing is challenging at all Pro Wrestling - but that will bore you to death, doing the same stuff 30 times over and over again, but it's slow paced, generic and the ai is as dumb as a rock

another vote for parlor games...
I used to throw parties and we would drink and play that all night without any problems except maybe when someone got too drunk and couldn't remember how to shoot the darts properly

The best chill out games for me are Out Run and Enduro Racer. If it´s late and you want to go to sleep soon, these games are the best choices. You need about 7-10 minutes to finish them (if you are able to reach the goals)

Maybe the reason why I find games like Columns relaxing is that I've always played them on the Game Gear and most of the people on this forum probably associate Columns with the rubber d-pad on the SMS controller. I've never played Columns on SMS hardware but I doubt it would be a comfortable experience.

The most relaxing game I can think of is California Games. The gameplay is pretty slow-paced and some of the music is good to chill out to.
WWF Steel Cage Challenge is pretty sleep-inducing!

Haha, any excuse to chuck an insult at WWF ;D. I find The Ninja quite relaxing, I can play that game for hours on end, whether it be completing the game over and again or looping the end section, I just find it therapeutic (if that's spelt right it's a fluke )

HangOn. Whenever we were first running the comp for that one I must have sat there with it in a lull for about 8 hours that day.

It would have to be Sonic 1 for me. I'v played the game so often I can complete it without paying attention to whats going on so I often find myself zoning out while playing it.
