Just saw this advertised on the back of Retro Gamer and it looks awesome: www.neogeox.comIt's way beyond anything I'd normally pay for a console, but I feel tempted to make the investment. It's been years since I've had the thrill of buying a new console and this is the first console since the Sony/XBox era that I feel I could get behind. Anyone else have any thoughts on this console?

I heard its crap... www.eurogamer.net/articles/df-hardware-neo-geo-x-reviewFor the price of this I'd buy a cheap ass super gun, PSU and a one slot (with a few mvs titles) and a controller 1 Slot = £50 Super Gun = £15 PSU = £10 Controller £20-40 A few cheapo games at £10 each (Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting etc) Bingo

They are expensive, and since its emulation not 100% accurate. The upside I can see is that it has a modern video output, so if you have a fancy flat TV that's good. But the original hardware with RGB Scart on a CRT TV will be better. It is a cool looking product, but in the end if you want something that looks like an AES console, why not just buy an AES console? The games aren't all that expensive, plenty of good stuff in the £20-£50 range, which is the price of a modern game or even a whole lot of the Master System library these days. Neo Geo stuff hasn't really gone up in value the same way other stuff from the same era has, so its not as comparatively expensive as it used to be any more, other than a few exceptions of course.

Seems insane that you can get a Playstation 3 for the same price in Sainsburys.

It's total crap. I saw the videos on youtube originally and then a friend bought one recently. Needless to say it was a waste of money. He said he is gunna play and finish the games then on sell it. The docking station looks good but the make of it is total rubbish. The output to TV is total crap - the colors bleed and the sound is extremely poor. The emulation on the handheld is poor. Even for a handheld. Oh and it's emulation. If you're desperate, do yourself a favour - download Neo Geo RageX, download the ROMs and play it that way. Thank me later. The controller is unnecessarily loud and clicky. It feels light although it does plug into a PC via USB which is a nice feature. Even for an arcade stick, you'd be better off with a Hore (is that how you spell it?) Sega Saturn arcade controller (virtua stick with candy coloured buttons). The build of the handheld feels light and dodgy. It feels like it was made out of $10 worth of plastic and a raspberry pi running neo geo emulation on it.
The only remotely cool thing about this is the fact that it has the official Neo Geo licence but make no mistake - this does not have the same quality builds they used to have back in the 90s. If I bought one, I would expect far more for my dollar. The only thing good about this console is taking it back to the store where you got it from and getting a refund. Sorry for the scathing review (of sorts) but with the Neo Geo brand, it used to be this brand of extremely high build quality and this is anything but.

Also neglected to mention in the manual, it recommends using composite connection over HDMI. And the HDMI output looks pretty bad. Composite is a smidge better.

I was really disappointed that Gamester81 made such a positive video about it. He even owns a real Neo Geo yet said it's great and comes close. How? The Sound is wrong, the graphics are horrible (color bleeding despite HDMI?!) and the same input lag problems that we know from the PS2/Wii/Xbox collections It's horrible when you think about that Neo Rage X or Kawaks on PC work better than those so called professional products
Stay away from it, invest in a real Neo Geo (The MVS is cheaper than the AES and there are consolized versions)
