I've felt like making some you-tube videos for a while, having been inspired by Ninjabearhug and a few select other peoples videos I watch. The idea of recreating screenshots from a game on another platform as a Master System version came to me, so during the week I knocked up this: youtu.be/Ykd5Sm1nRisI stuck to the same basic graphics design, its not a Super Mario All-Stars kind of makeover. But due to the Master Systems superior colour handling, the game can look a lot prettier than the Nes original simply by making some better colour choices and adding a bit of shading here and there. I've used genuine colours from the Master System palette, and stuck to the 16 colour sprite and tile palette limitations. So this is what the game could look like on the Master System. Its given me a chance to mess around with video editing a bit too, albeit with still images! The video is in 1080 HD so you can see those pixels in more definition than they actually have. I can't believe it took an hour to render a 2 minute video though, so don't expect any half hour epics from me!

You've done a really good job on recreating the graphics with the Master System palette :-) It would be interesting to see how this would play on the Master System.

Top effort. Now to create the game on the MS. I'm surprised this hasn't been done before, isn't there some form of Sonic homebrew job on the NES?

Interesting video; bottom line is that it would have looked better on the SMS

The SMS version definitely looks better than the NES version, but the different colored eye in the SMS version bugs me a bit for some reason and makes Mario look a little evil.

I have all the capabilties to record in 1080, but an episode of The SMS Quest would take around 9 hours to render at 1080 compared to around 4 hours isn at 720! Anyway, looks pretty cool, although I've only been able to check itr out on my phone as of yet. Shall have a look on the PC later and check it out in all it's High def glory !

I like the box art a whole lot haha, I have 3 or so Super Mario hacks for the megadrive, but seeing a mario game remade for the master system would be a bit of a treat!

Cheers for the nice comments fellas, I might make another makeover video at some point, there's plenty of 8bit era games that could have had a superior SMS version. I'm a bit annoyed that the You Tube copyright inspectors managed to spot the Mario music in there and then put ads on the video though.
