I got my Atari 2600 out to play again last week, and have been enjoying some of the games I have for it, mainly Phoenix and Deadly Discs. My first games machine was an Atari 800, but there weren't that many games released for it, at least not on cartridge. I only got a 2600 during my ebay discovery console buying mania period, so I'm not overly familiar with its library of games. I'd like to explore some more of what the 2600 has to offer. I'm not that fussed on severely cut down games available elsewhere, I'm more interested in games exclusive to the console, or at least ones that weren't spoilt by its limitations. So any recommendations? and good two player games to look out for?

Breakout and super breakout are really good and still a very playable game. Pitfall 2 is probably one of the best games for the system and is a really fun platformer.

Warlords was a great 2-4 player game for the paddles.
Kaboom is a great game again for the paddles.
Adventure Asteroids Berzerk E.T. (I liked it but most would say it's crap) Haunted House Joust Kangaroo Krull Missile Command Moon Patrol Othello Outlaw/Gunslinger Phoenix Vanguard Yars' Revenge
Boxing Burger Time Carnival Demon Attack Fire Fighter Frogger Keystone Kapers Mouse Trap Popeye Q*Bert Spider-Man Star Wars Empire Strikes back
Zavias already said Pitfall, Pitfall II, Breakout and Super Breakout those are all good.
I'd name a few more but they would be more expensive games that you might not like.

River Raid is a absolute Must-Have (There's also a sequel but it play nothing like this first game and personally, i don't like it) Ice Hockey (Great Hockey game) Chopper Command (Great Defender-style game) Robot Tank (Way better than Battlezone) Super Football (Great American Football game) Tennis (the Activision one) Desert Falcon Jungle Hunt Stargate Turmoil Dragon Stomper Jawbreaker Ladybug Armor Ambush Astroblast Stampede Communist Mutants from Space (you need the Supercharger for this game, so it's propably quite expensive but it's a great Space Invaders clone)
And as Andypandy said, some of the new games released by AtariAge are awesome like: Medieval Mayhem Juno First Toyshop Trouble

Ladybug was on Atari 2600? Ladybug was awesome. I didn't know there was a 2600 version.

Considering the ones that haven't been mentioned yet I would name:
Boxing Custer's Revenge (?) Fantastic Voyage Fishing Derby Frostbite H.E.R.O. Keystone Kapers (already mentioned but it's my favorite, so just to be sure) Megamania (how come nobody remembered this one so far? Such a bag of awesomeness) Pac-Man Plaque Attack Seaquest Smurfs - Rescue in Gargamel's Castle

How can anyone recommend that crap? It's a very lame "run from left to right, dodge some arrows" games and it's only famous because of all the controversy. It's not worth the money.

And as Andypandy said, some of the new games released by AtariAge are awesome like: Medieval Mayhem Juno First Toyshop Trouble I have Oystron, Juno First and Squish 'Em. have you ever had any problems with the regions? Oystron works perfect but i think they did that region free or something... the other 2 dont work on my ancient old school tv that i use for these games... i asked them and they said the games are PAL but somewhere between PAL and NTSC, i dont understand it. just wondered if i was the only one?
