So such documentaries finally reaches Great Britain? We had those on German TV about a decade ago, people who 'collect' crap, don't clean, don't care about how their house/appartment looks like. It's a nasty psychological disease. And no, we collectors don't have this proplem, i think we all tend to rather cleanly display the games or least keep them in good condition and therefore also kepp our houses in good condition, after all, games drop in value if they get dirty

We have a show called Hoarders here. In one episode they actually cleaned out 18+ dead rotting cats from a ladies house. Some had been dead for 10+ years.

Aye, you're right, it does have to be clean. There was a series a few years back called "Life of Grime" narrated by the late John Peel. This had equally crazy people like Mr. Trebus... www.youtube.com/watch?v=seavf2cUjzw

I don't know, ever look at rental games?
I've seen some that have only been out a few weeks that look like they have 20 years wear to them.

I don't know, ever look at rental games? I've seen some that have only been out a few weeks that look like they have 20 years wear to them. Not only rental games but everything pre-owned. I buy a lot of pre-owned stuff (some of my music tastes forces me to buy pre-owned CDs as those albums are out of print) it can be quite nasty and disgustin and the games.....i really don't wanna know what people do with their games. I even started a experiment once where i got several games from ebay, i took Cotton Swabs, drenched them in Alcohol and after one swipe over those cartridges they were black (and sometimes other nasty looking colors), after that i took some of my games i owned for 20 years and swiped a q-tip over them and the q-tip was lightly grey, It freaked me out, because those games i own, i owned them since i was a child and i left them laying around and whatnot, but they were quite clean. That Ebay stuff though? It was a dirty as it can be, no wonder those people also lose the manuals and other pack-ins.

It doesn´t matter whether a collector has 200 or 2000 games. Or whether we have loads of merchandise. Some people thinking that our stuff is "crap", but this is only their mental attitude. We collectors clean our stuff carefully and present them in a hobby room or so. Another people are collecting frogs (plush toys or something) or stamps. I hate stamps ;D This is a complete another thing that the OCD syndrome. Yes, I often think on my games. But for that reason, I´m not seriously ill^^ My home isn´t overfilled with games stuff or something. I have only one wall for that stuff. And if other guys in this forum have a room for their games and merchandise, it´s ok too. No one of us is to be drowned in it ;D
We are living for our hobby, this is not a "illness".

Some ebay stuff is gross but on the other hand I often get items that shock me on how good the condition is.
So whats the most messed up or gross thing you've ever got from ebay?
I once got a SMS game that had mold on it.
One time I got a Master System from Arizona and you could tell it must have been baking in an attic there for years the plastic was so brittle it would crumble, mainly around the screw holes. I'd bet if you were to simply drop it from about waist height the outer shell would have shattered.

I watched this last night, really interesting and better made than those Life of grime type shows. By the end you reslly felt for the guy and it was really pleasing to see him getting better. On the other subject. I have been to collect quite a number of ebay items from peoples homes and i have been shocked at the state some people live ('exist') in. I honestly dont think they see it though because its there own mess and filth

To say it was disgusting is a understatement and it took me several hours and a lot of soap and even more 90% isopropanol alcohol to clean and disinfect it. I gave the guy a bad rating (Because he also took 2 weeks to deliver it, then took another 2 weeks to deliver the stuff he forgot and thought a CD-R box full of pirates is a good excuse) and still he said "the stuff was in good condition and worked, so why the bad rating?" on the auction he rally said everything was in great condition, despite the puke, the broken cases and stickers on the discs (who in their right mind puts stickers on their discs?)
