Just wanted to pimp a daily blog that I have started about the ups and downs of being a video game collector. www.ninjabearhug.com/Let me know what you guys think and any subjects you'd like me to write about. This was the first gaming community I got involved in (and it's still the best too), so your opinions and comments mean a lot .

Read through your blog this morning believe it or not. Seems good so far. I would imagine it would be challenging to do an update every day though! As for content, whatever comments and observations you have about collecting would be good. Some anecdotes about past finds might be good too.

Good stuff mate. I have to agree with the idea of having a focused collection. Since I stopped buying games for every system going, my Master System collection has improved dramatically. While its very tempting to think of getting a full set for other systems (Gamecube in particular for me), I just know I wouldn't appreciate it the way I do a SMS set. Having all the games I saw in the catalogs, magazines and shops as a kid is very special. And while I haven't played each game extensively, I have tried the all. And that's a great thing about a Master System collection, you can play a game for 5 or 10 minutes, and get an enjoyable experience out of it. Do the same with games for more recent consoles and you'll barely have got past the intro screens or sleep inducing hand holding tuition level.
Collecting for the sake of collecting alone isn't a good idea, you should at least enjoy playing the console you collect for. Its funny how often I see people post on gaming forums asking which console they should collect for, if you have to ask then really there's no point in collecting at all.

Great stuff mate. I've always enjoyed watching your videos and now we're treated to an excellent blog as well! I agree with meu2 in that it may be pretty challenging to write something every day but by the sounds of your addiction, you may just manage it I'm more of a gamer than a collector, so I'd want to know more about your favourite games and nostalgic memories of playing them when you were younger. In terms of collceting though, I guess it would be interesting to see some of your prized possessions. It might be pretty funny to open up some of your packages on camera too, just to see your reactions

Its funny how often I see people post on gaming forums asking which console they should collect for, if you have to ask then really there's no point in collecting at all. That’s a good point. It’s one thing to ask people if a system is worth picking up to try out some of the games, but it’s a completely different thing to collect for a system. I certainly like to try out different systems, but there’s no way I would try and complete a full set of games on a system I had no prior connection too. In my opinion collecting should be an expression of an established interest you already have, not the launching point for exploring a system. Btw, Ninjabearhug has been doing a really good job keeping up with his daily blog so far. It’s a really good read too. I found the Sunday entry pretty interesting. I found it interesting to hear that the car boots have turned into a vulture zone. I guess it makes sense, as it’s the best way to make a large profit if you’re a reseller, but I am curious how you can tell there resellers and not collectors?

Cheers for the comments guys, so far I'm finding it rather easy to do a blog a day, but then I can talk/type about random nonsense for hours on end as anyone who has met me or talked on msn with me will know ;D! I'm more of a gamer than a collector, so I'd want to know more about your favourite games and nostalgic memories of playing them when you were younger. That's coming up soon mate, I'm gonna replay some of my old MD favs from when I was a kid, there'll be vids on YT to accompany the blogs . A lot of the resellers at the boot sales I visit also have stalls at the car boots specializing in games/dvd's/mobile phones. The brash manner in which they walk around the boot sales, knocking on peoples windows and asking if they have any of the things they want for sale is normally a tell tale sign that they have no interest in the items except for monetary

Hey, ninja. It feels weird addressing you here...
Anyway, I've been enjoying your posts! Have you thought about moving to blogger? I believe that website is more blogging-friendly, though I've only had a little experience with it. Just a thought, though.
Oh, and amen to the resellers. I've noticed that a lot of power-sellers on eBay are resellers from boot sales and flea markets... That's why their descriptions are so vague. Though I've never been to a flea market or garage sale or anything like that... I definitely need to give it a shot. I've only looked at pawn shops and they have nasty, torn up sport SNES games...

Hey, ninja. It feels weird addressing you here... Whereas it probably feels wierd to most people talking to me on other sites, this is my main haunt after all . I had a look at blogger way back, but as my sites main purpose is to document my collection I went with what I have now. In the future I may move over to something a bit more blog friendly, or learn how to set the blog up properly on my site maybe .

Oh, okay. I understand. Well, good luck keeping it up. It's easy to get sidetracked away from little potential chores such as blogs.

Right then, anyone who has been reading my blog will have noticed that there hasn't been an entry for a while. Basically, I got married and went on honeymoon, and had no internet access for a week and a half. But now I'm back! And to kick start the blog again I've started with a nice long review of Alien 3 on the Mega Drive: ***ALIEN 3 REVIEW***Hope you enjoy
