Just acquired some more TecToy games and noticed this sort of grading on them ranging from A to D. They don't all have it, but most of them do.
What does it mean? Is it a grading, time period,... ?

Somebody else may be able to give you more info but the nutshell version is that the Brazil acconomy went through a very erratic period, so rather than have to keep changing price stickers every week or perhaps day (?) they had a letter representing a value, so a single notice with the prices on could be updated - think about how greetings card shops work, same thing.

The story about the Brazilian economy is quite amusing seeing as how they fixed it. They created stability by introducing a fake currency so that for example milk always costed 1 unit and they payed people with the fake currency that they could use in shops. So people were tricked into thinking there was stability because the price of groceries didn't change which made the economy stable in the long run.
Though i'm no economist so if I got this wrong somebody could correct me but that is how I remember reading it.

Inflation rate was so ridiculous here at the time that it almost sounds like a joke to young students today. Guys with price tagging machines worked like madmen all day long; it was not uncommon to go to the supermarket in the morning to buy something, eventually get back in the evening to buy some more and end up finding you didn't bring enough money...
Anyway, it's been answered already; the letters are price related. Just as a curiosity, there are also letter E games, though the only ones we know of are Phantasy Star and Ultima IV.
