Do you still need responses to these questions? If so, here are mine.
1. When you trade games with other people do you often only trade games on the same console or do you often trade "cross platform"?
I'm more than willing to do a fair cross-platform trade. Right now most of my trades are on swap.com (a US-only site, I'm afraid, and they don't have a SMS section yet), so I've been trading DVD movies and books for games as well.
2. How do you go about trading your games? (Post on forums? Link to a trade list in your signature? Share links on social networks?)
As mentioned above, I use a site specifically designed for trading. I wouldn't be averse to trading via other methods, though.
3. When you trade/sell/buy games do you often ask/get asked to see/show pictures of the games?
When trading, no. Swap requires a loose estimation of the condition from Acceptable to Brand New, within their grading guidelines. Most users will write out a verbal explanation of any imperfections. When buying a game, though, I always want to see pictures.
4. Do you ever write down when you bought and what you have paid for each game in your collection for your own use?
I used to do that, but not anymore. Once I own a game, I no longer care what I paid for it or when I got it. I just want to play it!
5. Where do you usually sell your games? (Ebay? Forums?)
Ebay
6. When you sell/buy games what payment service do you usually use?
Paypal
7. Do you have a barcode scanner, if yes which one?
I have an app on my iPhone called iCollect Video Games Pro. Unfortunately when scanning SMS games, the database often has incorrect information, and sometimes doesn't recognize the barcode at all.

Hello, here is my contribution:
1. When you trade games with other people do you often only trade games on the same console or do you often trade "cross platform"? I do not trade very often, but when I do so I trade "cross platform".
2. How do you go about trading your games? (Post on forums? Link to a trade list in your signature? Share links on social networks?) I have not traded at all via the web. I have traded though with friends in person (I guess I am old school).
3. When you trade/sell/buy games do you often ask/get asked to see/show pictures of the games? Yes, pictures tell a thousand words. I am also a fan of accurate descriptions.
4. Do you ever write down when you bought and what you have paid for each game in your collection for your own use? No, but I guess I should do so. I already find it a little bit hard to keep track of my own collection.
5. Where do you usually sell your games? (Ebay? Forums?) I do not sell very often. But I once in a while I sell some games in second hand stores.
6. When you sell/buy games what payment service do you usually use? Paypal or within Belgium bank transfers.
7. Do you have a barcode scanner, if yes which one? No but I have access to one (I am a teacher and we have a scanner for our library books at schools).
Good luck with your project!

How far are you with this? I recently got a barcode scanner on my phone so maybe I can start using it if I find a decent app...

Hey peeps! Thanks for all the feedback! I've been pretty busy lately visiting my family and other stuff. The site is progressing slowly but steady! All this feedback should help me make some better decisions etc. Private Joker I am hoping to get some APP developers involved eventually to make apps for at least Android devices and possibly iOS devices that will have barcode scanning functions built in! I am actually learning to code for Android devices but I don't think I will ever get the time etc to ever get good enough to build the apps myself. So I will have to find someone to build it for me. If anyone has any suggestions for services/features to have on the website shoot them my way either via posting in this thread or just PM-ing me! Best regards, Peder Johnsen.

1. When you trade games with other people do you often only trade games on the same console or do you often trade "cross platform"?
Often cross-platform but almost always Sega. Does trading Genesis games for Mega Drive games count as cross-platform?
2. How do you go about trading your games? (Post on forums? Link to a trade list in your signature? Share links on social networks?)
Forum threads only.
3. When you trade/sell/buy games do you often ask/get asked to see/show pictures of the games?
People usually don't ask for pictures and I don't ask for pictures. I assume if someone doesn't mention flaws that the games are in decent condition - good condition or better. I try to mention any flaws that I think put a game in fair condition or lower. But I have gotten games with flaws that I thought the trader should have mentioned and on the other hand I have had very strict traders complain about flaws I thought were negligible. To me if you are going to be very strict you should make a point of asking about conditions. I've personally never complained about a trade through the forums even when I thought the other party should have been more forthcoming. I considered it my fault for not asking.
4. Do you ever write down when you bought and what you have paid for each game in your collection for your own use?
I have text file lists of all the Sega games in my collection but I don't keep track of what I paid for them. I don't have lists of my non-Sega games.
5. Where do you usually sell your games? (Ebay? Forums?)
80% eBay 20% forums.
6. When you sell/buy games what payment service do you usually use?
99.7% or more by Paypal. Every once in a while someone asks to send a money order but it's very rare. Even when someone asks if I take money orders the deal only goes through half the time.
7. Do you have a barcode scanner, if yes which one?
Yes but it is older and I've never installed or used it. The software probably isn't even compatible with Windows XP let alone Windows 7.

Made a proper survey online and added a couple more questions! For those of you who have allready answered before you don't have to answer again though I would appreciate it if you did! Just copy your previous answers in the questions that are the same, and answer the new ones! The survey can be found here: app.fluidsurveys.com/surveys/collectmedia/collect-media/I plan on having a small beta up and running sometime early next year (with all master system games and possibly most mega drive games), once it is done I will post a link in this very thread to be able to create a user for people who would be interested in trying out the beta and to give feedback etc.

1. When you trade games with other people do you often only trade games on the same console or do you often trade "cross platform"? I trade cross platform
2. How do you go about trading your games? (Post on forums? Link to a trade list in your signature? Share links on social networks?) I prefer to just sell games that I want to trade (on forums or eBay) and use that money to buy new ones from other people. It is sometimes difficult to work out details when trading with others, because I wont always have games that somebody I'm trying to trade with will want. I've found that cash is a great intermediate to measure the amount of value you have, and almost everyone will accept cash, so I've found it's easier to do it this way. I don't often post a list of games I have for trade. I'm far more likely to offer a FS list and then use that money to just buy from others.
3. When you trade/sell/buy games do you often ask/get asked to see/show pictures of the games? Yes
4. Do you ever write down when you bought and what you have paid for each game in your collection for your own use? No, but I wish I did.
5. Where do you usually sell your games? (Ebay? Forums?) eBay, usually.
6. When you sell/buy games what payment service do you usually use? Paypal, for the convenience. I kind of wish there were alternatives since it is owned by eBay, but it seems to be the de facto standard, so I use it.
7. Do you have a barcode scanner, if yes which one? I do not. :-(

Again thanks to everyone who has replied! . I really appreciate it! I'm finally starting to put together a proper prototype and hope to soon be able to show it to all of you! (And hopefully you all will be interested in testing it out and hopefully give me some feedback . The prototype will only include Master System and Mega Drive/Genesis games, but once the prototype is done I'll be looking into seed money to hire a couple more individuals to start working on the full thing! I'll post back in here once the prototype is ready for testing and steps on how to get an account. Best regards, Peder Johnsen.

So there has not been many updates on this front, I've taken the whole idea over to assembly.com and will hopefully gather some interest from other developers and the likes to help put this thing together there!
I've just landed myself a new job too within the web development industry so even though I'll be busy with that most of the time it should hopefully also make me more pumped to work on things like these in my free time.
