Hey guys and gals! I want to ask you all some questions that will help me develop my web application! UPDATEThe survey can now be done online through a form instead: app.fluidsurveys.com/surveys/collectmedia/collect-media/UPDATERemoved 6. b) as it was basically the same quetsion as 6. a). I was just thinking of those systems that keeps the money untill the reciever has recieved the games.. I also added a new question 7. so to those who allready answered, if you read this thread again please edit your post and reply to it . 1. When you trade games with other people do you often only trade games on the same console or do you often trade "cross platform"? 2. How do you go about trading your games? (Post on forums? Link to a trade list in your signature? Share links on social networks?) 3. When you trade/sell/buy games do you often ask/get asked to see/show pictures of the games? 4. Do you ever write down when you bought and what you have paid for each game in your collection for your own use? 5. Where do you usually sell your games? (Ebay? Forums?) 6. When you sell/buy games what payment service do you usually use? 7. Do you have a barcode scanner, if yes which one? That is all the questions for now. Hope you guys can help . Also, an exclusive SEGA Master System only private beta of this web app will be available hopefully sometime early next year depending on how quick I get the features together . (I also gotta get Sega16bit.com into a decent build ) Best regards, Peder Johnsen.

1. I rarely trade actually. I usually buy. When I have traded, it has been cross platform.
2. I do most of my trading/buying through multiple forums. Most game collectors collect for a variety of systems.
3. Most people expect to see pictures at some point, yes. Otherwise, if you call them mint, be prepared to stand on what you say.
4. I never write anything like that down.
5. I usually sell my stuff straight through eBay. Otherwise, if I think it's more for collectors than a general market, I post on forums.
6. I always use Paypal.
7. No, no barcode scanner.

1. When you trade games with other people do you often only trade games on the same console or do you often trade "cross platform"?
I generally trade for Mega Drive games, but I trade all kinds of games for them so I suppose "cross platform"
2. How do you go about trading your games? (Post on forums? Link to a trade list in your signature? Share links on social networks?)
I have a spares list on my site which I link to in my sig on every forum I visit, when I start getting too many spares I start posting on forums.
3. When you trade/sell/buy games do you often ask/get asked to see/show pictures of the games?
I don't generally get asked for photos, but I always supply them, there's no come back then. I always ask for photos although generally to confirm that it's a specific variation that I'm getting.
4. Do you ever write down when you bought and what you have paid for each game in your collection for your own use?
No, never. If I paid more than £100 for something I'll remember, anything less than that doesn't really matter. If I knew how much I'd paid for my collection over the years I'd probably cry.
5. Where do you usually sell your games? (Ebay? Forums?)
I try forums first as I hate dealing with Ebay, you have no protection as a seller anymore. Ebay is a last resort for me, I generally give stuff away before I use it.
6. When you sell/buy games what payment service do you usually use?
Paypal gift payment for online buys/sales, cash for shop bought and local collections. The majority of my collection has been from shops/car boot sales.
7. Do you have a barcode scanner, if yes which one?
Not that works with my computer, and I don't plan on buying one, seems like a worthless purchase. I have one on my mobile phone but the SMS games I've tried didn't register.

1. When you trade games with other people do you often only trade games on the same console or do you often trade "cross platform"?
I don't trade much, but I am happy to trade cross-platform (if the other party has stuff I want) - so long as I feel the value is fair.
2. How do you go about trading your games? (Post on forums? Link to a trade list in your signature? Share links on social networks?)
Forums (I have a link in my signature) mostly. I don't have time to browse eBay these days.
3. When you trade/sell/buy games do you often ask/get asked to see/show pictures of the games?
Depends what I'm buying. If it's high-value (or I'm variation-hunting), then I'll ask for photos. I generally don't get asked for photos, but provide them anyway.
4. Do you ever write down when you bought and what you have paid for each game in your collection for your own use?
Yes, if bought on-line - but only because I record how much I spend in my personal budget. If paying with cash: no.
5. Where do you usually sell your games? (Ebay? Forums?)
Forums, for the most part. I have used eBay and really dislike it. As with Ninjabearhug, I'd be more inclined to offer stuff for free on a forum than sell it on eBay.
6. When you sell/buy games what payment service do you usually use?
PayPal, because everyone uses it. Their "gift" payment, specifically - unless the seller is an unknown, then I'll use a normal PayPal payment and cover the fees (so I have protection).
When selling, I offer PayPal (because everyone uses it...), UK cheques, cash, trades for other games, or whatever. I accept bank transfers from established members.
7. Do you have a barcode scanner, if yes which one?
I have a Barcode Battler... My phone (Android - HTC Desire) has one, too.

I have never traded games, so I can't say.
2. How do you go about trading your games? (Post on forums? Link to a trade list in your signature? Share links on social networks?)
Never done, but I guess I would go thru forum post if I did.

To my knowledge it's never happend.
4. Do you ever write down when you bought and what you have paid for each game in your collection for your own use?
No, I don't keep track.
5. Where do you usually sell your games? (Ebay? Forums?)
I haven't sold a game yet acctually. But if I would, I would put it on the Swedish version of eBay, Tradera.
6. When you sell/buy games what payment service do you usually use?
Sending money to the bank account.
7. Do you have a barcode scanner, if yes which one?
No, I have none.

1. When you trade games with other people do you often only trade games on the same console or do you often trade "cross platform"? Haven’t traded games yet, but I would be open to cross platform exchanges.
2. How do you go about trading your games? (Post on forums? Link to a trade list in your signature? Share links on social networks?) Post on Forum.
3. When you trade/sell/buy games do you often ask/get asked to see/show pictures of the games? Would always request and present pictures.
4. Do you ever write down when you bought and what you have paid for each game in your collection for your own use? No, but I do make a mental note so that I keep within my budget.
5. Where do you usually sell your games? (Ebay? Forums?) Haven’t had to sell any so far, but would try Forums first and then Ebay.
6. When you sell/buy games what payment service do you usually use? PayPal
7. Do you have a barcode scanner, if yes which one? Barcode Scanner App for the Samsumg Galaxy S if that counts.

1. When you trade games with other people do you often only trade games on the same console or do you often trade "cross platform"? Cross platform as well because the other people don't really collect Master System.
2. How do you go about trading your games? (Post on forums? Link to a trade list in your signature? Share links on social networks?) A bit of all three, although the last one doesn't really help much since most of the fellow collectors are not in my friends list. I almost permanently have a link in my signature or at least whenever I have something to trade. Forums of course are the main spot to find fellow collectors. 3. When you trade/sell/buy games do you often ask/get asked to see/show pictures of the games? I always provide pictures myself unless if I don't have time. Then I write that they need to ask pictures if interested. Usually they ask for pictures. 4. Do you ever write down when you bought and what you have paid for each game in your collection for your own use? No I don't, but I REALLY should start doing that... 5. Where do you usually sell your games? (Ebay? Forums?) Ebay didn't give me any good results and is totally not worth it anymore. Buyers are always protected and are given the benifit of the doubt even when I as a seller am totally in my right. 6. When you sell/buy games what payment service do you usually use? Bank transfer for national payments (or cash) and paypal for international. 7. Do you have a barcode scanner, if yes which one? No, don't think it's necessary until you go professional.

1. When you trade games with other people do you often only trade games on the same console or do you often trade "cross platform"?
Just SMS and very occasionally a MD game.
2. How do you go about trading your games? (Post on forums? Link to a trade list in your signature? Share links on social networks?)
I've only traded (not sold) to people through sega8bit.
3. When you trade/sell/buy games do you often ask/get asked to see/show pictures of the games?
I usually just ask about condition. I'll ask for pics if it's someone I've never dealt with or know nothing about. When i trade games to other people I usually provide pics whether they ask or not.
4. Do you ever write down when you bought and what you have paid for each game in your collection for your own use? I just save the ebay receipts that get emailed to me. Otherwise no I don't. I don't think I really want to know what I've spent over the years.
5. Where do you usually sell your games? (Ebay? Forums?)
Forum first if it's something I know people would really want. Otherwise Ebay.
6. When you sell/buy games what payment service do you usually use?
Paypal
7. Do you have a barcode scanner, if yes which one?
No. I don't even have an idea of why I would ever need one!
