It's a good game. I remember playing this with my sister as a little'un doing the cooperative mode. The box says it was published by Tengen which is part of Atari so I hope that answers your question.

Nah! Get yourself the Atari 2600 version! It's not a bad game but I prefer Pacmania - the jumping aspect adds a lot to an old game.

Tengen didn't develop every game they have published (and wasn't this one licensed by Tengen and published by Tekmagic?). Doesn't the SMS Ms. Pac-Man say in game that it was designed by Tiertex?

I said Tengen because that's what I think he wanted to know since he might not have the box or the instructions to the game itself. According to wikipedia, Ms Pac-Man was developed by Midway and published later by Namco for their arcade machines. It was ported to the Sega Master System by Tengen. I don't think TekMagic were involved at all.

I fully understood what you were saying, but publisher is not equal to developer. I was saying that Tengen didn't develop most of their SMS games. I thought TekMagic because that's what I thought I remembered on a splash screen when trying it out (but I think this was Pac-Mania, but even then, that's still a publisher, not a developer, and they weren't involved with Ms. Pac-Man SMS). I checked the box pics at gamefaqs and the back of the box says it was distributed by Domark and licensed by Tengen. I know for sure Tiertex is mentioned either on the title screen on one of the splash screens (edit: I found out they weren't on the title screen or splash screens, but the SMS Ms. Pac-Man is listed on Tiertex's website, and I know for sure it wasn't designed by Tengen due to the different style from their version. I didn't get Tiertex from Pac-Mania either). knightwarrior asked for the developer, not the publisher. I don't see the point in pointing out the publisher on the box when they probably didn't develop the game. Even on NES, though Tengen/Atari Games made their own games, some games were still from other developers (Sculptured Software developed the Tengen published NES and Genesis versions of Pac-Mania for example). That info about the arcade Ms. Pac-Man isn't correct. It was originally a hack of Pac-Man from a company named GCC called Crazy Otto with different graphics for the ghosts and Pac-Man. Midway bought the rights to the game from GCC and turned it to Ms. Pac-Man. Later, Namco bought it becuase they own the rights to Pac-Man. I also thought for sure Wikipedia once listed GCC on that page at one point. Darn Wikipedia and their easily changeable info!

Just thought he might want the name of the publisher since that might help him find out more information on the game. It's on wikipedia anyway. Since I didn't know the developer, I thought the closest thing to help knightwarrior would be to give him the publisher since he might not have the box.

Since I didn't know the developer, I thought the closest thing to help knightwarrior would be to give him the publisher since he might not have the box. But how do you know he didn't know the game was licensed from Tengen? It's on the cart label and splash screen as well. Not to mention that Domark is the publisher listed on the back of the box and the game is only licensed from Tengen (which they licensed from Namco). In this case, "Tengen" doesn't tell much since Tengen didn't develop any of the SMS games licensed from them. I don't see how having the box or not is even relevant since the developer of the game isn't listed on the box. The publisher and company the game is licensed from only tells someone who brought the game to stores and who has the rights to the game, rather than who made the game. I hinted that wikipedia isn't reliable with the comments in my previous post. Edit: I just read the Wikipedia page on Ms. Pac-Man and it now has the correct info about GCC developing Ms. Pac-Man. The info was indeed changed. That previous info about Midway developing the game wasn't correct, though. GCC made the game, Midway changed the game to a Pac-Man game and distributed it, and Namco bought the rights due to a legal dispute.

Thank you Mr Tengen detective. How do you know he didn't want the name of the publisher?
To be honest I neither know what the argument is about anymore, nor do I care. You are a pedantic fool. Believe wikipedia or don't I really couldn't give a faeces. Write your next essay on Ms Pac Man if you wish, I will not be reading it. All I wanted to say in this thread is that Tengen published the game and that I hoped that would help knightwarrior. I never implied it would help, I never implied Tengen developed it, all I said was I hope that helps which I hoped would help his investigation. If letting you "win" your self-made arguement means I don't have to bore myself reading your tedious conjecture then so be it.
Perhaps you should go into business tracking down the developers of Ms Pac Man in attempt solve this mystery. In which case I wish your business luck and hope you manage to expand beyond your sordid hole in your mother's basement.
No doubt a ten page investigative journal will follow this post and I hope you enjoy typing it out.
Perhaps Hollywood executives should turn this into a movie: The Ms Pac Man Code and the search for truth. It could star Tom Hanks as a loser who argues the toss about an 80s video game on a sparsely used forum. It could involve the quest for truth against a corrupt organization called wikipedia and how it stifles the truth by claiming defunct company Midway made Ms Pac Man when in fact it was someone else. Tom Hanks could try to edit wikipedia and get visited by mysterious assassins as he masturbated in the Mcdonald's staff toilet where he works at the age of 35. Yes it's all coming to me now... Where's my agent???

Where's my agent??? What the heck is this about? I have been trying to be as civil as possible, but I'm not the one here making baseless assumptions. Someone asks for a developer, and you instantly assume he might be ignorant for no good reason? And then you assume I'm ignorant because of some stupid mistake and "inform" me about Ms. Pac-Man with outdated and incorrect info. When I inform you of the correct info with a link, you just ignore me, explain to me the same thing about the box you said since my first reply, and restate that the info is on wikipedia. Please stop with the assumptions, read the posts, and reply to me directly instead of this rude nonsense. BTW, I'm not some expert on Tengen, I just know from lack of polish of the SMS versions of the games and information from places like smspower.org that they didn't design any of the SMS games. Also, Ms. Pac-Man is listed on Tiertex's site (and they weren't involved with any other version. Tengen designed the NES version, Digital Eclipse did the SNES version, and Innerprise Software did the Genesis/Megadrive version), so while there isn't much info in game, it's likely that they were involved with the SMS Ms. Pac-Man. I also mentioned that Domark was the publisher on the back of the box, which you could of easily looked up, but you just ignored me and restated what you already said.

My vote for dumbest argument and thread flaming in the history of the internet.
Edit: On a side note I really don't know why you think this plays slow. I just had a got at it and it seems just fine to me. It looks a little odd and the graphics seem more fleshed out than they should have been, but I think it's a good game nonetheless and a good port. It does seem to be a bit of a mystery as to who actually programmed this version. If there's an ending you'd probably find out that way.

Both of you misunderstood my posts and ignored half of what I said. I never intended to flame, and I'm shocked that an admin took my posts as flames. This is unacceptable behavior for an admin and I'm appalled that this was made light of.

You know, I was tempted to post the absolutely inane and moronic PM you sent me, but then I said, no, you know, just sit back and let it go, it doesn't matter, just talk to him through PM and resolve it. And then you make a post about it. You're starting to tread deep water with me my friend in which I will make you tire and drown, to be devoured by forgotten, assumed extinct monsters that can eat ocean liners. Cut it out now and calm down. I'm glad you did research, but you're taking this whole thing way too personally and I'm starting to have enough of it.
