When I purchase a game I always make sure the hangtab is stilll intact. I remember back in the day when I use to rip them off so they would fit on my shelves better(so cruel..lol). I actually still have a few of those tabless boxes to this day(about 10 or so left) and man do I hate it. I actually sometimes buy games with tabs just so I can use the box to put the tabless game in then sell the tabless ones. Just curious though, are you guys the same way or does it even matter to you as long as its complete?

The hang tabs are not important for me on a game. For me is important, that the box is not broken or cut and the manual is in good condition.
I own over 500 boxed SMS games and it is for me not possible, that every game has an hang tab on the box.
How big is your collection?

I cut a lot of mine off because of how I store my games. I guess I could see that being a pricing issue at some point in the future, but you can easily replace the plastic boxes, so it really isn't a problem. Just buy up a million copies of F-16 and you're good to go if you really care.

Tabs aren't important to me. I only replace boxes when the plastic foil has been torn or if the box is cracked. I think I'd have to replace more than 50 boxes if I wanted tabs.
Also, when a cover of a game's in awful condition, I'll buy a new copy. If I have a game double, I'll take one of the covers (the worst one) and I put it in a folder while I use its box to replace a crappy one. Anyone else do that or do you keep your doubles boxed?
jeez, that's confusing

I always sell the doubles off but keep the best copy of course. If I had 50 copies of tabless boxes I would hate it! Yea, weird I no...As of right now the ONLY double I own is Altered Beast, really no reason, just happened that way.

Oh and my collection is 298 unique Master System games (318 if you want to include doubles/variations), with another 7 on the way. Wow! awesome amount...I probably would have that much but I also collect for NES(I know I'm a traitor), 2600,7800, Intellivision, and Colecovision. All includes well over 700 unique games that have been pretty much hand picked to my likings..

I don't care. Half of mine has them and the other half don't. As long as the boxes are in good condition and the manuals are OK I'm good. I certainly like having the cover in good condition. If it's tatty I'll replace it and sell the old one; I have no duplicates except for a few variations I picked up.

I like all of mine with hang-tabs. Didn't mind so much when I first started collecting but can be pretty picky these days, especially as there are quite a few common games I still need so I can afford to be picky! . I'll try to swap them out when I can but luckily about 75% or so of my games already have them.

Doesn't matter to me. Besides most retails stores in germany did cut them away so it was pretty hard to find some with that thing intact.
I really like the later Mega Drive/Genesis Boxes, they introduced around 1994 were are those two little holder and you could just fold the Tab onto the box (Hard to explain) I like them, because that way it's easier to store them but you still have the tab intact.

Yeah, I didn't care much when I started, but after buying out bunches of lots just to get a few games here and there, you'll learn quick to replace out any non-hang tab case with a complete one. Now that's all I've got in my collection are complete hang tab games.

Just received a package of 30 games all complete and in great condition (and such a great price) with only a few doubles but every....single....hangtab..... has been expertly removed! Oh the humanity!
