No, because the Pin Layout of the japanese Cartridges is completely different then those on the "rest of the world" cartridges. So the Cartridge Port of the Master System can't read them.
The games work on the Mark III and the japanese Master System though, as they are backwards compatible.
And i don't think there is an import adapter

I looked into it before and I could only find the reverse adapter. USA/Euro ---> Japanese

Transplanting the ROM ought to be fine so long as you have a hacked BIOS (but check the pinouts). Else you'll get SOFTWARE ERROR.

thanks for the info..
So you'll need a hacked Bios on the SMS to play SG-1000 Games

One way is as shown here: www.smspower.org/dev/docs/wiki/HardwareHacks/BIOSRemovalThat will avoid all "SOFTWARE ERROR" messages caused by the incompatible data on the SG-1000 (or Japanese game) ROM chips. However, poor connections will result in crashing/glitchy games instead of the usual SOFTWARE ERROR message, and some games will not work properly any more. An alternative is to install the Japanese BIOS, or a custom BIOS. Finally, if you can program EPROMs then you can usually patch the ROM images to work on the SMS.

Man, I wish these games were more accessible. Seems impossible to find them these days without going on the Yahoo Japan auctions. Anagrama had that impressive clear out last year, but other than that their releases have been spotty at best. A lot of the games look pretty impressive for the time, like Zaxxon and Exerion. Just from looking at videos, games like Naka's Girl's Garden and even Monaco GP are bursting with creativity. I'd love to be able to get all those games somewhere down the line.
How many of you guys actually collect for this beast? I've got one game - Safari Hunting. Fun stuff!
