I'm surprised there's no thread about hin here I expect it's because there's a thread about him on every other forum on the interwebs. Although we do kind of have a thread about it in the eBay forum, of all places. Not wishing to sound harsh (I actually like his songs), but he's dead - get over it. People die, that's how the world works. That's not directed at you, just the whole situation. All I see everywhere I go on the 'tubes is "Michael Jackson this" and "Michael Jackson that". I get it! Now shut up. Again, not directed at anyone in particular. </rant>

I don't know if I do agree with you on this one Aypok. I would agree if he was say 70 and died in his sleep. I remember when the Queen Mother died and thought the media reporting was insane - I mean you could have altered the headline to read:
'Shock as very very very old lady dies of old age'..... (!!!)
But in this case, like him or not, Michael Jackson was one of Music's defining individuals over the past 40 years. Whether it was his musical style or his dancing technique. It's hardly surprising that there would be this much media interest in the story, nor is it wrong under the circumstances of his death. The huge volume of reporting on the subject will have died down in a few days.
What I DON'T agree with are those same media outlets that were so damning during the child abuse cases now turning round and effectively worshiping him.
Plus, for the record and having relatively recently(about 18 months ago) looked over the transcripts of the most recent cases, and the evidence lodged for the case in the mid 90's, he wouldn't have been found guilty in the case he settled out of court and there is no way he was guilty of the one that went to trial. What he was guilty of was being naive and stupid and allowing ridiculous situations of his own doing to put him in the situations that he did.
His life was a sad story of professional success combined with a catalogue of personal and mental disasters.

I'm completely with Aypok here too - people die every day and the fact that this cautionary tail about childhood stardom and the horrors of plastic surgery addiction has left this world a slightly less wierder place is no great shame in my eyes, but enevitably all the rest of the news will be pushed back in the papers for months to come in favour of another 'the life of Jacko' special just as we had with Princess Di. I'm not happy when anyone dies (except people like Fred West and disgusting kiddy wizards - hmmmmm....) but let's face it: for people who live in the real world, and don't audition on britains got talent dancing like an 80's gimp, he was just another person who is now dead. Time to move on and get on with it - nothing more than a shrug is needed and if you feel the need to torture yourself, and your ears, a little bit more put anything he did post Bad on and have a little cry before you nut up and get back on the reality bus where the world keeps turning with or without your obsessions.
