I've modified another SMS1 which is now up for grabs if anyone is interested. Its the very first model - Instruction screen on boot up and hidden Snail Maze game. The new switch on the front allows you to switch between 50 and 60hz. So games can be played 20% faster, as they were designed to be, and as they were played in Japan and the US. The borders at the top and bottom of the screen are also reduced. I've also added A/V sockets at the back, for an improved image over RF.

That's sweet! Never knew the games played slower over there. Always thought the 50-60 just had something to do with the power cords.

While some games do need to be played in 50hz, the majority really do benefit from being played in 60hz. I think a 60hz console is pretty much essential for anyone who plays Master System frequently.
