Edit 06/12/16 I got myself a new car a few weeks back. Now I have a son it was about time I swapped the 2 seater sports car for something with more seats and doors. (I had actually bought another Z4 since my previous update). Although it looks fairly sensible my new one has a petrol 3.0L straight six turbo engine. it's pretty nippy with 0-62mph in 4.6 seconds according to the internet. It certainly makes the commute to work a bit more exciting... Old edit - 02/09/11 I picked up my new car yesterday morning, just 11 miles on the clock I love it. (original post below)check out the beast! ;D It's a 1.2, 16v. Ive never bothered with a car even though i'm nearly 27, my GF has one plus I work in the center of Manchester so driving isnt really an option. I went for a spin last night and tonight, really weird though as I havnt drove since I past my test 2 and a half years ago. My dad give it me because for once in his life he came into a bit of money, he's bought a people carrier instead. Best thing is though - he's TAXed, MOTed and insured it fully comp for a year for me. And 4 new tires. So all I need to do is buy petrol

Nice, you lucky sod. My first car was a right old banger, and my second, third, fourth...... In fact i still drive cheap bangers now, i've never had a car that hasn't had at least 3 dents in it . Then again i've never paid more than £500 for a car either

That is one sexy beast . Have you opened her up on the highway yet? I did 30 mph today, not gone on to the busy road yet. When I was learning I did 60mph a few time and it feels quicker than when your just a passenger. Apparently the stats on it are.. 76 PS (75 bhp) Top speed - 106 mph (170 km/h) 0.62mph (100km/h) 13.0 s

Great little cars Clios. I'm sure I've mentioned on here before, but I used to have an old Mark I Clio RT, 1.8 16v. It was the best car I've ever had and if I could get another one now in good condition with less than 50k on the clock I'd do it. Either that or a Clio Williams.
That car was like a light aircraft when accelerating, and had a top speed of 130mph plus (not that I ever attempted that!).
For a first car that's a pretty valuable piece of kit you've got yourself! As with some others I still don't spend a lot of money on cars, the car I drive now is my 4th, and it's a 2002 Rover 25 1.4 that I only spent about £2,200 on 2 years ago.

I got my second car this last weekend. I miss my old car, but I had to sell it when I went in the service, since it was too old, and dunno where I was going to get stationed.
My current car is pretty damn sweet now. But it needs a new motor mount, and some other tweaks.

Clio's are definitely women's cars. You're a big girls blouse Rupert. The boot is quite big though, for all the handbags and high heels you probably buy for yourself

Where does the wind-up key for it go? trust me, when your petrol starts costing £1.20 per ltr ($2.40) you won't be driving all those mental trucks and muscle cars you yanks are obsessed with I just did a quick bit of calculating.. It would cost you $155 to fill up a 2006 Chevrolet Impala in the UK. nice...

Its not like everyone in the US drives a V8 anyway, plenty of small 4 cylinder engine cars there, doubt any other country buys as many crappy hybrid cars like the Prius either.
Its not just the petrol that makes people want a small engined car here, the insurance prices are crazy, when your young anyway.

Hey, someone has to keep the threat of getting flattened by a big old car alive. Of my five cars, only one is a six. Since I only drive a few thousand miles a year or 8 per day, I can run these cars till the end of time. I use about 6.5 to 8 US gallons per week. $30 this morning.

Trouble is i hav'nt bought insurance before, It will go down abit next time if I don't make a claim.

Insurance goes down after age 25 here. They put you on something called assigned risk if you've never bought it before. If you have classic cars with antique insurance it's cheap as well. + anything after 2 cars is free. I did some math and if i bought one of those puddle jumpers, it would take 22 years for me to have saved any money versus 1978 ford ltd. that's messed up!
