The original site this forum was bound to was started by Tyler, aka Shinobiman (hence the url) for a site called segamastersystem.com The original site was around from about 2000-2004 but wasn't updated after 2002 really. Sega8bit, the site you see now was started by myself in early 2004, primarily as a reviews site. When Shinobiman decided he no longer wanted to update sms.com he handed control of the site and forum to myself. Unfortunately along the way we lost the sms.com name. I’m afraid there’s not much left of the old site, but what is left can be seen on the internet archive. web.archive.org/web/*/http://segamastersystem.comAs you can see, nothing of the original site was kept. But we did re-work quite a few elements, such as the caption contest. I'm pretty certain almost everyone will agree the site we have today is far superior to the original.

It's alright; it could do with a bit of a facelift. I get the impression that people think we do one big update every few months, but the truth is there are always new things getting added. Little changes are made here and there, for example today I added some more manual scans which Roth kindly sent in, and also some related pictures for games. Doesn't sound like much but If we do a little bit here and there it soon adds up

It's interesting to see the different layouts that were up before. I gotta say, the layout that's up right now is still friggin' awesome! It just has that nice look to it, not to mention database driven : )

Wow, I forgot how crappy this place lookced (well, not THIS place) back in the day. Damn, what humble beginnings. I can remember checking it out now and then back around 2002 or so and a bit before that, forgot what it looked like.

Wow...that site was classic 1997 design, all the way up to the end. Especially with the always horrible, never acceptable Green text on black background. After seeing that old site, this one isn't as bad anymore

i liked it, it reeked retro'ness but it was a git to navigate if you wanted to find something.
