You can type as much stuff in the other fields as you like. Its that damn e-mail address field that's too small. Need to fix that.

Yes i did read it, another well wriitten review. I would have been a bit more critical myself, i just dont think it has aged too well, but that just my opinion. Pitfighter is an excellent choice of comparison actually, as the original arcade game had motion captured real people for characters just like mortal kombat did, which they didnt even attempt to replicate on the mastrer system. One thing though, are you sure the megadrive version supports the six button pad? And just to let you know, the arcade game had 5 buttons

lol, I couldn't remember how many buttons the arcade had, and as for the megadrive - I honestly can't remember for certain. The six button controller had been released, and I used to play it round at my Pal Gordon's house on his megadrive but I honestly can't remember 100%, I played MK1, 2 and 3 there, and given that it was 12 - 13 years ago, my memory is a little unclear. It may be that you had to press start to change between punch and kick, or was that just SF2? Oh damn my brain, I think I said before that I'm actually seriously a little worried about it.... must go see a doctor. As for the game having aged? Personally, obviously I think it's aged when drawing comparisons with say a PS2 or and X-box etc., but I still don't see it as having aged in a SMS context, but maybe that's just me, just my opinion of course.

Its aged badly in the respect that its not enjoyable to play today as other master system games. Alex kidd makes most xbox and ps2 games look crap in compairon as far as im concerned, but the jumpy animation, and overall ugliness of mortal kombat does affect my enjoyment of the game. If you play the Korean fighting game Sangokushi 3, you will see that a fighting game with large character and smooth animation was possible, and as such that game stands up as a better game today. Perhaps ive just been spoilt by more modern consoles, but old games with poor framerates and choppy animation are a lot more annoying to me now, than they were back in the day

Ahh, but you see I couldn't be too harsh with the review - because I've got the MK2 review coming up soon, and the review for that will be different - I have totally different views on both games. I'll hopefully get time to complete it later on today, but if I don't it'll be tomorrow at the latest.

Good review. Nice to see some new ones going up there after a period of nothing for months. I would have to agree with Playgeneration on this one - this game is pretty poor. I don't know if its because I was spoiled by playing the Megadrive version of this game first. But I always thought this game was very poor. Although the it has the large sprites, the choppy and annoying animation and really awful music and sound effects put the final nail in the coffin for me.

Lol, the reviews from the time disagree with you! ;D Just read over the ones in Mean Machines sega & Sega Master Force (the only issue I now have! ) Oh, and like I say, my review of MK2 will be different!

The game was good in its day, infact i loved it at the time. But back then i was easier to please, and didnt really take much notice of choppy animation. But then i didnt think there was anything wrong with playing through RF either. These days i cant stand playing any console through RF, theres some advances you just cant go back from. Now i have the vastly superior megadrive version, theres no real incentive to play the Master System version any more. If Mortal Kombat was only ever released on Master System i would be a lot more forgiving of its shortcomings, but when every other format has a better version its hard to forget that.
