Dear SMS.com Members,
We are going through some major changes. As you might have read on the main page of the site, I am leaving control over sms.com. 5 years ago I made the site to help clense the overwhelming lack of support for the Sega Master System at the time. Since then, I'm proud to say, the site has inspired many to start they're own sites. For many, the site was a nostalgia trip, loaded with information and fun stuff on a video game system men and woman in they're 20's - 30's enjoyed when they were kids. I can also say it got a lot of young gamers into SMS gaming.
It will continue to do so. SMS.com is not dying, rather, it is growing. But in order for it to grow, I must let another creative mind and SMS gamer take control and perhaps spend another 5 years.
And who might this fellow be?
In making the choice as to who would take the torch and carry on what I started here at segamastersystem.com, I followed my first instinct.
A man who created a sega fan site through his love and devotion to SMS gaming and actual inspiration from sms.com. He has the passion that for the system that I have been lacking lately. He even already has a wonderful domain that ties in quite nicely with segamastersystem.com, and is more than willing to spread the magic.
Of course, I'm talking about Sinistral, webmaster of sega8bit.com and future webmaster of segamastersystem.com.
It will take a little time to have the site back up and running under his control, but you can all look forward to the future of sms.com. The site will essentially be the same site it always was, but with a new content, vision and design hosted by Sinistral.
I for one am actually excited about how things will turn out. I spent a good chunk of my life in the SMS community. I will continue to be an active supporter of the site, I just won't be running it.
I want to thank each and every one of you for joining this wonderful community. I have received so many thank you's and god blesses' over the years from SMS fans like yourself that even if I find myself in a rutt somewhere down the line, I can think about what I did in the year 2000 and it wouldn't matter.
Keep Gaming SMSer's!
