In honor of Memorial Day, I have increased the Sign Up Bonus to $20. This will run until Tuesday, May 27. If the site is free to use, why have money in an account? To feature your auctions on the front page, and bump them up to the top of the Categories of course! Great auctions deserve the most coverage, and you can ensure that by using a very modestly priced Feature Option. Everything is free at GameGavel except the Featuring Options, so why not give it a try! With the extra Sign Up Bonus.. you can feature more than ever... now for FREE! www.gamegavel.com

Bought Megaman 1-6 on gamegavel for close to nothing. I m happy with the transaction, but I can see why sellers would want to stay clear of the auction part of the site. Unless you know exactly how much you want or sell something rare and advertise it well in advance I cant see any 0.99 auctions getting a lot of bids. If you have a set price I suppose its good, but it might actually be easier to sell items on a site dedicated to the platform. I hope im wrong.

Over the past few weeks I have been diligently working on a new theme for GameGavel.com. Today I finally felt it was ready to launch. I hope you all enjoy, you can see the new layout and perhaps join GameGavel here: Don't forget about our 5-5-5 Contest, where when you buy 5 items, sell 5 items, or even refer 5 friends to GameGavel.com between now and July 1 you can win a Brand New Nintendo DS! Winona, Glad you like my old Mega Man Games The best thing about GameGavel is that you don't need to start your auctions at $.99 to keep your insertion fees low. You don't have insertion fees! List it at what you want, or what the lowest you want to get for it, and you should be good to go. Once people get over the "eBay is the only way" things will pick up. In the mean time I will continue to advertise, advertise, advertise!

The links in your last two posts are broken. Still, it sounds like a good deal. I've got a pile of (mainly non-SMS) games to get rid of and I'm going to be listing them on there shortly (next week, hopefully). It's nice to see such a well put together site for game auctions. Hopefully more people will start using it to avoid eBay and it'll not go the same way as the old "Video Game Auctions" site. EDIT: Okay, I've got a few suggestions for improvement: 0) There's no SSL record for "advertise.gamegavel.com", which causes decent browsers to bork on pages which use SSL. 1) The "PIN"/captcha on the registration is far too easy to break. I'd suggest using something like reCaptcha. 2) On the registration page, there's a drop-down that allows you to select your referer. That's all well and good whilst the number of members is low - but that will become annoyingly large once the lists hits a few thousand. Not that they're serious issues or have put me off using the site. :)

Aypok... All good suggestions. The Advertising program is on the same server, but has the subdomain pointing to it currently. I am testing a better way to do it rather to prevent that, doesn't cause any major issues but it is a bit of a pain. The pin number entry, i haven't done any testing with it, but I will look into the possibility of upgrading the PIN. I am at the mercy of the company that writes the base code and figuring out how they do it, so its only a matter of time. Registration Page, the referrals box is kind of a two fold thing. If you know exactly who referred you not a big deal. If you don't, you can pick one. Generally though, the referral should be via an email or link someone posts and that box goes away Here is an example of a referral link (You can find it in the My Referrals Tab under My Account)

There was new and important change to GameGavel's Verification Process for selling items. We are going to change it up a bit, and remove the restriction to verify your account before selling. For the most part, this won’t affect many of sellers, and your account will continue to show that you are verified. This helps potential customers know that you indeed not a “bum” seller and have gone through the small process in ensuring we know you are legitimate at GameGavel! This change mostly affects the buyers out there and their decision to purchase from a particular seller and if the verified account matters or no. So, if you have been on the fence when it comes to selling or listing some items, now you can absolutely free! Just make sure you link your other feedback to ensure people know they are dealing with good people Here are some fun facts about GameGavel right now: 412 Current Live Auctions!
2058 Auctions Listed at GameGavel since Launch!
317 USERS, Which is up 115 from 3 weeks ago!
24,000 Unique Page Views
Over 7 Mins of average browsing time per person!

Hey everyone, its been just over a month since I last posted here, I don't want this to become another... "Again! Thread" GameGavel.com is having a $.99 selling bonzana contest this month where the more you list and the more you sell starting at $.99 you can win! So far, there have been a lot of auctions listed to kick this contest off, and a lot of good deals to be had with a lot of bidding to be done! Don't miss out! Also, be sure to check out the latest podcast, Let the Gavel Fall, which discussed last months contest winners, and so forth. In the coming weeks I will be adding a new feature to the site to help encourage discussion and growth Ill keep the details on that quite for now because I want to ensure everything works as I want it to before a formal announcement. Hope to see you over at GameGavel: The Free Video Game Auciton Site! www.gamegavel.com

Nice acquisitions there. I respect that you're still really pushing behind the site. It takes time, but it looks like it's starting to really pay off. Congrats!

Thanks Grolt! I am really hoping that the site continues to grow, and gains momentum.
I am happy to announce that there were a set of forums added to the site to discuss Auctioning, Buying, Selling, etc. at GameGavel.com with a small splash of gaming discussion too. If you are a member at GameGavel, you received an email today detailing that you were automatically registered for the forums when they went live!

I finally tried to sign up today so that I can off-load some of my spare Spectrum and SMS games (and maybe a Mega Drive game or two), but have been unable to do so...
The "State/Province" list is missing my county. I would ideally like to select "Worcestershire", but that's not on the list. Actually, that county is quite often excluded from sites for some reason... In which cases I resort to selecting "West Midlands" - which isn't technically a county, but is still correct. That, too, is missing. The list doesn't even have "Midlands".
I know that you're: a) not from the UK, so I don't expect you to know all of the counties (I don't know them all) and, b) probably using the list that came with the software.
Is there any chance you could correct this - or should I just pick a random county?

Aypok, I have added those just now! Now, you can help contribute to this contest though.... "Come on in, Register today!" Contest - Winner Announced October 1, 2008 Refer your friends, family, neighbors, acquaintances, and random people on the street to Game Gavel and earn CASH! No Gift Cards, No secrets, No games... cash! Here's how this one will work: Starting July 30 we have 384 users on Game Gavel! As this number grows, I will ad $.25 to a jar for every ONE person that joins the site. On October 1, 2008 I will determine how many new people have joined and figure out how much the prize will be. One out of all of the people registered (vets and rookies) at Game Gavel will be pulled out of the digital hat (the bucket as previously seen in Game Gavel videos may be too small) and I will send them the jar of coins (not actually a jar of coins, maybe a couple of bills instead to save on shipping). Minimum prize is $10, Maximum prize.... it's up to you! www.gamegavel.com
