Anyone know what voltage I will need for this to work with a universal adapter or what polarity I'll need. I don't want to blow the thing up. I can't find the original adapter which was broken anyway. Apparently a 9V adapter will be fine as Amstrad suppied either a 9V & 11V (which it states underneath the console) with the GX4000. I'm not sure if this is accurate. Can you blow a console up with lower voltage going to it?
If it's 9V will it be positive or negative, how can I check this?

The GX4000 doesnt have a voltage regulator so you have to get the voltage just right or you can damage it. It's a piece of faeces console, I have two of them broken, and another working, I tried the original PSU that came with the working one on one of the broken ones, and it broke it!
To fix it you have to drill out the shitty blanking plugs on the PSU cover.. cheap as hell.. not even worth fixing.. crap system..

I run mine with an 11v/500ma adapter. I wouldn't use anything else as i blew my first one using a 9v

Well an expert on Amstrad said a 9V volt with positive polarity will work fine. I've been playing it at that all afternoon. My adapter doesn't have 11 volts only 12! If it's supplies 500Ma or greater then that the adapter will be fine! Just in case anyone else has the same problems.
C.J The Amstrad GX4000 is an okay system in my book. Burning Rubber is a great little game, Pang, Navy Seals & Tin Tin are all cool titles too......
