Just thought this would be interesting to find out, I'm kind of wondering if retro gamers will have retro pc's too, or will the gaming aspect of PC's be enough to make people upgrade?
I'm currently using Windows XP 64bit Edition , may go back to XP pro though as I'm finding it a little flakey.

I have Windows XP Home. I think this is Microsoft's best operating system thus far. I have 98SE on another computer, but it likes to crash every now-and-then. I don't think I've ever had XP crash yet. It's pretty solid.

Well, mates dad was pissing and moaning that Windows 98 is the most stable platform they have ever made, and I would tend to agree
But if you keep your wits about you, you should have no problems with XP

Ah the mystery of the MAC loving SMS'er is revealed. I look at the stats for the site every now and again, extremetracking.com/open;sys?login=sega8bit I guess most of those hits will be you then? Mind you, I think Skeletor uses MAC too.

I use Windows 98 in my computer, but to play the newest games I use my father's laptop, which has XP. (He hardly ever uses it, anyway)

Umm... some kind of XP... I wouldn't have the faintest idea of what 'version' it is.... My brother gor me a new 200gig HDD for Christmas... so no doubt my machine will get a whole upgrade when I get him to set it up...
No more having to delete a game off to install a new one!

i've tried out a slew of linux distributions Gentoo linux being my favourite but i ended up back on Windows simply because i use windows to do tasks i want to and not have to wade through loads of documentation to either set the application up or fix a bug install update etc etc it was all a pain

I changed PCs about 2 weeks ago. I went from Win 98 SE to Win 2000 Pro and let me tell you I miss Win 98. I say it works fine when it works, but let me say I got the blue screen of death more than a few times. Maybe I'll get used to Win 2000 I do like the end prog function.
One thing to anyone who wishes to try LINUX, there is an easy way to do this. First is MINOX that is LINUX that fits on a floppy. The second is Knoppix and you need a fast connection to download the CD image file as it is roughly 600 megs, and as long as you system is set to boot from a CD you can actually run that version of LINUX right from the CD.
