Oh, and in relation to the topic:
1. Robocop 3 - I love this game, I think it's actually pretty underrated, but it is so damn hard! I'm determined to beat it though!
2. Terminator - How somebody could have named this in the EASIEST game list I have no idea.
3. Indiana Jones - See no. 2. above.
4. Penguin Land! - Nobody's mentioned it yet so far so I thought I would. I love the game, it's so addictive! But some of the levels I just cannot figure out the right route to take and always end up breaking the damn egg!!
5. Hook! - Maybe it's just because I've not played it enough, but I can't get that far in it. I really don't understand why they didn't release it, because it is an excellent game.

I only class a game as tough if i've had to put it to one side after getting so infuriated with it that i've nearly smashed my SMS to pieces. So far there's only two games in that category: Terminator Robocop 3 Action Fighter might be getting added to the list very shortly, i wouldn't say the game is too hard, in fact it should be pretty easy since the attack patterns never really change, but i just keep dying from stupid mistakes . I will complete the above games one day, jus t have to wait for a time when i'm REALLY relaxed so as not to cause any damage to my console

Ah, ninja, perhaps you should start a 'most frustrating sms games' thread! I think that's what you're getting at!

Frustrating is generally the main reason a game is classed as hard . The more annoyed you get, the worse you get, and then you get more annoyed ;D

that is not true I beat the game when I was a child, because I made a map of the level. The first map that appears when you turn on the console is always the same, try it! Well, I based myself on a quick comparison, such as this one: I just went straight to the bottom twice and got two different (pieces of) maps. Is there any way to get to another room vertically? If so, then maybe the room locations are the same, minus the hallways leading to them. Or maybe you can actually "make" or "unlock" hallways throughout the game...?? mmm I have tried it in my master system (not emulator), and I put the cartidge, turn in the console and appears a map, then, I turn off the console, and I turn on it again, and in the game the same map appears...... If I die in the game and I start a new game without turning off the console, the map is different. I dont know if you understand what I am trying to say...

Yes, I do. Anyway, they're still different maps, then.

Well, mine is indeed the Tec Toy version , but I doubt the ROMs are different in any way... still, it may be worth the shot. Edit: erm... is this much too off-topic? If so I'll just ...

Wow there are so many difficult games I could choose. I can't inlcude games I've completed but some of those that deserve particular mention are: Power Strike, Black Belt, The Ninja and Spellcaster. 1) Cloud Master. This game is generally tough but the last level is bonkers. If you do get past those damn lions things without dying (and if you do you may as well give up as you then have no firepower) the end of level boss is a bloomin nightmare. 2) Ghost House. Is it me or are the Dracula's immortal in the later levels? 3) The Newzealand Story. The game is a maze and stingy on lives. 4) Shinobi. Been a few years since I've tried but remember a jungle type later level where enemies fly from all angles wiping me out every time. Never to be attempt again. 5) Choplifter. Does this game have an ending or does it loop? I'll never find out because I can't fly past those fireball things on the cave level. Impossible. I find Shinobi to be one of the easiest SMS games. But I've also played it hundreds of times ;D To make the caves easier in Choplifter, try flying backwards. It'll give you more time to react.

Yeah with Shinobi I can get pretty far but lose all my lives on one level. As I mentioned before there is a level which has ninjas flying across the screen and there is no time to jump out of the way or shoot them. All this is from memory though and I'll have to have a go again soon. Any tips with this particular problem?

As I mentioned before there is a level which has ninjas flying across the screen and there is no time to jump out of the way or shoot them. All this is from memory though and I'll have to have a go again soon. Any tips with this particular problem? Like most old-school games, just memorize the patterns thru repeated gameplay. You can use the level select "Easter Egg" (does anybody use this term anymore ;D ) ...I think it's down/left + button. Then you don't have to work your way to that level each time when you want to practise it. Unfortunately you won't have any decent weapons and your life bar will be at its shortest . Basically, get used to when the ninjas fly into the screen and jump+shoot them rather than wait on the ground. Also, don't charge through the level...fight only 1 or 2 enemies at a time by taking your time. I find that almost every old game can be beaten by memorization of patterns...not that I've completed tons, but that's what I've seen so far. I always get frustrated when I try to rely on smooth control in 8-bit games and my own reaction time (both of which are sorely lacking usually ) Good luck and I'm sure very soon you'll give the Masked Ninja a good thrashing!

1. Smash TV. Due to the crap controls this game is impossible to complete. I can't believe that no one has mentioned this yet.
2. Secret Command (1 player). Last few levels manic.
3. Impossible Mission. Almost lives up to its name.
4. Assault City. I can't get past the boss on level 2.
5.The Ninja. frustratingly hard.
