I've got the original cartridge of this game and I'll be honest. I've only plugged it in once and it seemed choppy and a bit crap. Am I missing something, should I give it a chance? Is it because I don't have the manual and didn't have a clue on how to play it which ruined it for me?
Has anyone played and can convince me that it is actually worth giving it a proper go rather then just being a shelve filler?

Thought me dead ye fools? It is time for the Second Coming of the Crew. First, please answer me this, neigh I demand it. Where dost one findist the discs before facing yon piss dragon of terror?
I was hoping I'd missed something in the game to make it special, but doesn't seem so, so the game is destined to be shelved and left alone until some time of utter boredom.

The discs are found after the dragon. Throw the staff at the dragon and it should die instantly (assuming you still have the staff of course), then the ceiling will come crashing down. Keep running to the right and the discs will be there; pick them up and the game is over. There are videos on youtube of people completing this game if you need more information. The game itself is awful. The controls are fiddly, the graphics choppy and the overall experience too difficult for casual gamers. If you have the instruction manual you'll find the few pages it contains utterly useless. The only thing I like is the music.

Thanks @alis. The first part though, was a quote from another site, which I suspected with the timing and user name, was possibly Stan. Kind of makes me want to give it a serious go on the game though.

I bought this game in 2000. I have tried several times to win it. But it is simply unbearable. Each action requires going into menus and submenus. It's slow and too difficult. The labyrinth is too complicated. Finally, last year I followed a speed run on youtube, because I would like to finish all the SMS games. This allowed me to reach the end in 15 minutes, no fight, only a long escape. I saw the end, but really this game has no interest. It will be very good on a shelf because at least the cover is very beautiful (this is the only good thing in this game)

I have got a players guide for this somewhere as me and my brother used it to find our way round it.
I think the secret is to use the staff to freeze the enemy to stop them in their tracks.
I have to be honest I thought it was ok and enjoyed it but we bought it when it was new.

I (kinda) loved this game as a kid, mainly because I didn't have many games, I remember mapping out the whole thing, eventually getting to the Dragon and one by one watch them all instantly die before I could change anything ... On second thoughts, stupid game, still got it, not played it in 20+ years

I have this on NES since I was a kid and it was just awful. Me and my nephew would play it a lot and try to convince ourselves it was good but it wasn't. Its one of the titles I use to make my former step kids play when they were acting up. I could just start humming that awful awful tune and they wouls suddenly behave themselves.
Now I have it on the SMS but haven't played with it to much but I can say that's its much better than the NES version though that isn't saying much.
