Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum and wondering if I should start collecting Sega MS games?
It was the system that was close to my heart when I was a kid. I've got one but only 5 games. I collect game consoles but looking at all my consoles the MS seems like the best one to do and maybe could be doable.
What do you guys reckon?

It's doable but like anything else it depends how much you're willing to chuck at it. Prices had been going up steadily for 3 years and then over the last 18 months they rocketed! Some will say if you are patient you will pick games up cheaper but in reality 99% of games now end up on ebay and everyone knows what they are worth.
A bundle of 90 games sold for £500 last week and contained nothing rare but something like that is a good start 500/90 is about £5.50 per game.
Powerstrike 2 will now set you back between £180-£300 and the rest of the rares will be around that price to.
Its def worth collecting the console so if the money doesn't put you off go for it...but anyone who thinks its going to be cheap/easy is in for a shock..

Certainly do-able compared to other consoles, as there is about 269 SMS PAL games to collect (obviously many more if you collect variants etc) compare that to PlayStation 1 where there's like 1,850 or something like that, makes SMS do-able. Plus if there is sentimental meaning for collecting SMS that always helps

Collecting for the sms is in my experience easier than the other console's I collect for You got less games to collect and maybe a dozen or so that sell for 100 quid or more , plus the games can be found in excellent condition . I bought the vast bulk of my games in bundles , I perhaps paid full buy it now ebay price on 30 games and got a full pal set in about 3 years .
I can't get the same deals on other consoles , I've resorted to buying cheap xbox and ps3 games and trading them in to Cex , but it's always a lottery with them .
If you enjoy collecting give it a go , all you need is the space and some spare cash to get started .

What a great system to collect for. I was in the vast minority in the US when I received mine for Christmas 1986. All of my friends had the NES while I was the lone SMS owner. I had originally asked for a NES for Christmas that year, but my father chose the SMS instead because it "looked cooler". So, from that moment on I was hooked on Sega, and have been ever since...all thanks to my father. By the way, all my friends back then wanted to come over and check out the competition...and they loved it. Go for it and recommend it!
