Hi, just curious about something. So the Everdrive for the Master System, if any of you have any experience with it, first off, complaints? Second off, can you utilize ROMs from the SG-1000 or will it only load SMS games onto a regular system?

According to krikzz...their product is backwards compatible. krikzz.com/store/home/36-master-ed.htmlCan't verify that myself, but I assume it to be true for at least most games. Pretty sure I've read somewhere that some games are not supported but that is due to something hardware related not the everdrive itself. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable on the subject will respond soon.

I've had mine a few weeks and haven't come across any issues with it yet. With regard to Sg1000 roms all the ones I've tried worked fine (Will only work on the sms1 as the sms2 was stripped of its sg1000 hardware) there's 20% off at the moment so I suppose now is the time to bite the bullet if you've been thinking about getting one.

Yeah not that big of a deal if all of them don't work, I was just curious because it will make collecting unnecessary hahaah. Thanks guys!

Huh? SG-1000 games ought to work on an SMS2, just not on a Mega Drive. Everdrive doesn't support the extra hardware like the RAM in The Castle and the BASIC cartridges, but "vanilla" games are just ROMs and no different to SMS games in that respect.

SG-1000 games do work just fine on an SMS2. I can vouch for that from my own experience.

I'm talking about the Everdrive for the SMS, did you think I meant the one for the MegaDrive/Genesis? I meant this one and similar types.

those ^ definitely run sg1000 roms, mine came from retrotowers (basically the same as stoneagegamer sells but the cart label is red, the insides of both come from krikkz), and it definitely does work.

Thanks man, that's the one I meant. I was starting to get the "should I get an SG-1000" bug hahaha.
