I'm not particularly interested in rental games but I've seen these and they don't look that bad. If they are genuine and have reasonable prices then I might consider to trade with the person who has them. Anyone knows about these? What should be a fair price for each game? All have a sticker on the spine with the rental code and name of the game.

Well I would say they are geniuine rental games. However what does that really mean.. Just that a shop rented them out to people and put them in those boxes to distinguish them from normal games. I'm not sure they hold additional value over the normal version of the game, perhaps even less value. I have one from Sweden that I just bought as a curiosity. Perhaps if you remember renting games in this particuar style box back in the day it may hold more value to you personally for nostalgic reasons.
Did Sega do official rental games? I'm not quite sure. I've seen many none standard boxes of the years for rental purposes, some better looking than others.
I dont think these are releated in anyway to the rental systems in Sega briefcases, please correct me if i'm wrong?

I don`t think I have ever come across SMS rental games, even as a games trader in the late 90`s I had a rack full of Master System but never was offered anything x-rental in part-x or to buy in.

Yeah I never came across rental sms games as well and personally I don't think rental games have too much value but I'll maybe consider to trade a couple of those just to add to my collection

Sega had a official list of games that could be legally rented. But many places ignored it and rented what they wanted. I use to rent games for sms and the megadrive from a local newsagent who use to put the game and manual in a self-sealing bag and then a vhs video box. Renting in the states was big as I have a few Genesis games with rental stickers on. Just a day or two ago I got a old rental game in a lot of games I had bought.

I have these official(?) rental games - blue boxes with SEGA RENTAL embossed on the plastic. I bought these six from the Netherlands a few years ago, the seller had about 30 available but I just picked out a few that were in nice condition.

Those blue boxes look beautiful! It would be great if SMS games were released in blue boxes. A couple more types from rupert and ddevilfingers:
