I have been lucky, almost everything I've bought since I started collecting has been in great or at least acceptable shape. I'm not overly concerned about the carts themselves, some wear to the label is okay to me (except my blue rerelease games, I think they are a thing of beauty and want them to stay "perfect"). I do prefer my manuals and covers to be free of staining and writing. I still have all my original games from my childhood and kept them in good shape. The only manual I ever wrote in was Wonderboy in Monster Land.
How many games have the multiple language variations? I'm already aware of the three (Castle of Illusion, Shinobi, DD) mentioned in this thread...are there others?
Well I will just caveat this again by saying my list of variations is not complete.
I currently have all the games mapped out in terms of initial release date and cover styles/ variations and then additional variations layered over that. So I can tell you that the langauge number releated variations all appear in the no ® / corner burst style section of games first released between 1988 and 1990.
1988-
Double Dragon (5 / 8 languages)
Shinobi (5 / 8 languages)
1989-
California Games (6 / 7 langauges)
Wonder Boy III (6 / 8 languages)
1990-
Castle of Illusion (6 / 8 langauges)
The Cyber Shinobi (6 / 8 languages)
Ghouls and Ghosts (6 / 8 languages)
Moonwalker (6 / 8 languages)
Operation Wolf (6 / 8 languages)
Super Monaco GP (6 / 8 langauges)
World Cup Italia 90 (6 / 8 langauges)
So basically these are just the ones I own, so there must be more. There are another 40+ games in this catagory of no ®/ corner burst style and first released between 1988 and 1990.
