Well, it was quite a long time ago, so that's understandable I guess that 2001 press release must have just been for Toys R Us, with it being available in other stores earlier. They then showed up a year later in the UK, thanks for looking that up. As flatapex pointed out, EB was initially just a rebranding of Future Zone, so it doesn't really narrow it down too much apart from 1991 or later.

Carmen sandiego was a weird one, at least in terms of the tv show. It was screened in the UK on Nickelodeon when a lot of their shows ended up on the bbc. This show however was the odd one out, it was an educational cartoon after all. There were frequent 'watch your own weekends' and 'watch your own wednesdays' which were every Wednesday in school holidays, where most shows got a reasonable amount of votes when they lost, c.s always lost dramatically with the other show getting 80%+ or more.
It was one of the few shows the bbc didn't buy, the others being I think 'renford rejects' and 'get the picture'
