Ooft strong category but I've gone for the robot fish again! I'm not sure how you guys determined it's a fish... could be some kind of insect? I mean the lower creature by the title is a snail right? Makes more sense that the flying one is also an insect. Again, I don't own the game and have never played it. Is there an underwater stage or does the whole game take place under the sea? Just curious, not a criticism by any means.

The big one resembles a lionfish, and is the game's first boss. The smaller one is a hammerhead shark and the snail-like one is a nautilus. Sagaia is the western title for Darius II, the second game in the Darius series. The artwork here was actually first used on a promotional flyer for the original Darius arcade game. The enemies in all the games are stylised as metallic fish or other aquatic species (sea urchin, crab, octopus, even a turtle). But other than that it plays out like a standard 2D shoot 'em up with a range of environments based on the solar system (starting with the sun, ending at Jupiter and including the moon) - some are looser than others, being set in space stations or space itself rather than a depiction of the planet the stage is set at. If I remember right, the Earth stage is half underwater but the same fishy enemies are all throughout the solar system!

Perhaps hardest round. I'm tempted by Golvellius and Heroes of the Lance (I'm biased, having read dozens of DragonLance books), but I choose Sagaia too.

I will have to look into/research the Darius series, again I'm not familiar with it. Here I thought Darius II was a Persian prince or pharaoh or something like that (if my memory serves correct). The game sounds pretty good, I've always been a fan of the cover art and have considered purchasing it before. But like so many other PAL/EURO releases it can be a little pricey once you factor in shipping to the U.S. Thanks for the info Transatlantic Foe

Went with my pick from the 1st round double hawk, Prime Arnie and Stallone together, who wouldn't want to play that in 1990?

Ok, after a lot of head scratching I've decided to go with Golvellius. While I agree Sagaia and even Hero's of the Lance have superior artwork they seem out of place as a Master System cover. Sticking with the basics of what we know to be a prototypical type SMS cover.

Sagaia needs to lose PLEASE. Yeah I don't get it either? For me it's one of the weakest covers in this group, no way I would have bought it because of the cover back in the day. But hey, that's art for you, everyone has different tastes

Some good competition in this group. I'm going with Streets of Rage. It looks like the apocalypse is playing out under a bloody crescent moon. Every centimeter of this design is screaming with deadly action.

Did Strider 2 an Monica really reach stage 2? The mind boggles.

Did Strider 2 an Monica really reach stage 2? The mind boggles. Indeed, and I think that is the fun thing about tournaments. For info: Strider 2 recieved just 7 votes in stage 1 and tied in 3rd place with Rescue Mission in group N. Monica received 8 votes and tied with Poseidon Wars 3D in 3rd place in group M.

I see, so some covers with 7+ votes didn't make it due to how they were grouped? It makes sense then.
