I sent a message via instagram yesterday but have not heard back. If you've been dealing with him via ebay Rastanfarian perhaps you could enquire further? I'm hopeful but I'm pretty far from convinced that we have a new silver game here. I also messaged him about it. For those who have not seen his collection on instagram its a very nice collection with most of the general rare sms items accounted for, plus quite a few items I wish I had!

It's a very nice collection indeed. I've actually discovered a couple of other Australian collectors via Instagram. Nice to know I'm not the only one down in this part of the world with an unhealthy amount of sega master system games, haha.

He has posted a better pic on instagram now. Clearly is silver. However the label isnt perfect, i'm not sure how easy it would be to peel off and put on another cart? Anyway i've asked him to test the cart to make sure its actaully Columns (i know its pretty easy to swap boards over but thought it was woth covering all bases).

Link to instagram: www.instagram.com/jc4sega/I just tried it, and it seems it's not too difficult to peel back a label once the glue is dried out: I'm not accusing this guy of anything, he's been pretty open about it, but my suspicion would be that at some point in the past it has had the label swapped. EDIT: rupert , can we ask him to look at the screws on the back for any scratching or signs of the cart being opened in the past? Part of me would like to be wrong about this, it's always fun finding new stuff.

So, only one known copy and this has tatty label..? It smells fake from miles away!
Come on guys, the label definitely looks like been stuck again. It's totally clear!
Edit: I don't want to accuse him, possibly the swap was done in the past without his knowledge.

I don't want to accuse him, possibly the swap was done in the past without his knowledge. Yes, I believe that if it was faked it was most likely done before he obtained the game. It is a good sign that he uploaded another picture at Rupert's request. If he any reason to believe it was fake or had anything to do with its faking; the logical thing would be to ignore the request. He is clearly being as transparent as possible by testing the cart and providing addition pictures. Part of me wants it to be real, another part want its to be fake. As a "greedy collector" I hate the idea of one more item that I will never have! I remember reading older posts about the "SMS2" version of Batman and there was a lot of skepticism surrounding that as well. I think it's human nature to be doubtful when "new" products surface 20/30 years later.

Hounding him is not the way to get the answers we hope for. As far as visible signs of screw tampering, I am sure I can remove nearly any fastener with a non-marring screw driver bit to avoid scratching or creating visible signs of tampering. I really wish he would join the forum. I feel kind of bad that we are all having a conversation about him and his game behind his back so to speak.

I'd be incredibly happy if we ever come across anything unknown, but in this case I had a negative feeling since the first moment. Maybe some people will still think it's real, but last photo is making things totally clear to me.

VERY easy to peel it off, I know, I've done it with other things. Even if on there good you just take a blowdryer to it and it loosens the glue so it comes off like new. Then you just put it on the other. Incredibly easy.

Do we know if factory numbers on the cart, inside, or on the inside of the case have any consistent markings or ways to signify different games? That will be key here to verify it's authenticity, there really is no other way.
