Like in Games like Zillion, Zillion II and Global Gladiators -- Why do they put the controls reversed?
The Jump button is always on the right side not left
When I play Global Gladiators on the Master System I just use a Megaverterthat ets you play Super NES Pads on the Geneisis
I get my Power Plug and Map the buttons to Y+B Y = Fire B = Jump

A few controllers have a switch to reverse buttons 1 and 2 as you wish.

I sometimes wonder if they did it intentionally to differ from Nintendo and especially the Mario games.

I never knew there was a law about how Buttons have to be mapped.
I also don't see what the problem is. Nowadays Games also rarely follow any "It has to be that way" rules, except some minor stuff, like using WASD in PC games but even then, every game has a different button for the inventory, use key or whatever else which usually leads to everybody remapping keys. Maybe they should've implemented a "Change Controls" Option back in the day, so everybody would be happy. But that now kinda reminds me of people complaining about Konami PSX Games (like Metal Gear Solid) always using Circle for entering Menus and applying Options while X is the Cancel Button and most other game companies at the time had it inverted.
As for the Master System: Personally i prefer Button 1 being the Jump Button and Button 2 the Attack Button. As in most Jump n' Runs you combine a jump with an attack it feels a lot more natural and comfortable for me to move my thumb from left to right instead from right to left. But maybe that's just me.

There's no law on it. But every game I played on the NES the Run Fire was always on "B" while Jump was on "A"
Even on Alex Kidd has the reverse controls, MMAC on the GameCube as reversse controls - Bugs the hell out of me
