Yeah Sonic 1, every time I put it on I have to play it right through to the end.

Couldn't agree more. Sonic 1 was the game that got me completely hooked on the Master System.

Dragon Crystal. Even with smart phones and Xbox one's, It's a game that can so easily be a boredom buster, even for my kids. Each time a game is started, there is always going to be a different outcome. For me back then when i first played it, i didn't really enjoy it straight away, as it wasn't the usual frantic speed style of game that was my trend then. After playing it a bit more due to just wanting something different to play, it grew on me as I started to learn a different genre to what I already knew. The thing that did get me completely loving this game was that it was different every time, so it limited the time value of the game. I know that there are some iconic RPG games for the Master System, such as Golden axe Warrior, which I'm only half way through right now, and Phantasy Star, which I still need to for my modern collection, but Dragon Crystal is a game which I believe isn't given the credit it deserves. It is a game that has also stood the test of time. Even with modern technology my sons, particularly one, rates it as one of his favourite games and almost getting to the end. Getting to the end on this game is not easy. Even modern gaming pro's would struggle to get this game completed. Not that it is all that hard to play, but more because of how it was hard to plan from the beginning as it was just random each game. I played the game enough to complete it twice. I hope that, that one son does eventually complete it too. So anyone that hasn't played it, you start as a regular dude walking around a maze style game. The paths are hidden until you approach them. some areas open out to an area, or room, where there will be items like armour, food, weapons, scrolls, rods, potions, and rings. each having different abilities or curses. each movement of the game is after your move, so you could stand in the same spot next to a monster and they wouldn't attack you unless you made a move or attacked. Well mostly, but there are some monsters that move more than once to your one move. 30 levels to get through as well, which was a big deal to me when you had Sonic with 6 rounds. As the guy you control walks around, he's followed to start of with, by an an egg. Which as you progress, hatches and grows. This game absolutely deserves so much more credit than it gets.

The game I couldn't do without for SMS would have to be Alex Kidd in Miracle World. I've spent countless hours playing this game and loved every second of it. Another game I would have a hard time doing without is Cloud Master. It frustrates me but it's great!

I have never played dragon crystal , it sounds like there are plenty of hours entertainment in the game. I just seen a video from it on YouTube, and think I must give it a try

Dragon Crystal... This game absolutely deserves so much more credit than it gets. Thanks for taking the time to describe it - it does sound very cool. As a North American SMS fan, it's in the category of the mysterious PAL releases that are like a whole other dimension of Master System goodness that I never knew about back in the day. So it's good to get some good descriptions and recommendations for the gems in that part of the library. In some ways it almost seems as if the SMS library is somehow infinite, as there's always more to discover.

Really tough question Outside of the nostalgia itself, the two player games I had have a deep personal connection, as those are what I played with for hours and hours with a late friend who lived a few doors away. Super Space Invaders and Secret Command in particular, laughing and joking and generally trying to bugger each other up as well as co-operating. Shadow Dancer too felt like a 16bit game with cool big sprites and animation, but I guess for me it would be Speedball 2. It was my favourite game to play on another friends Amiga, and when it finally came to SMS, it was a must have, and love the game so much, even in its own 8bit way

There is a title one of the first I owned with my Power base and that was Ghost House on card which I have very fond memories of, as of yet I have been unable to find one to obtain and hold onto as they seem difficult to obtain.

Hello!
"Hang-On": the bundle game in Sega Master Plus (my parents gifted it me in Christmas 1990 or 1991... I don't remember...).. I Love this motorcycle game!!
"World Soccer": maybe one of my favourite football videogame!! And my first Sega Mega Cartridge, that my parents bought with the console!
When you choose a nation team, you can ear the National anthem!! It's fantastic!! And also the simple graphics is for me perfect! You can also see eyes of football players! In Italy during FIFA WORLD CUP ITALY 1990 "World Soccer" cartridge was released with the console!
"Double Hawk": Fantastic shooting game!! And I love playing it alone or in two people! Always beautiful! This game was my second mega cartridge!
Then I have had other Master System games, and I'm now discovering a lot of "new" games.. but these 3 were the top during my childhood!

Psychic World for sure and maybe Sonic Chaos, I play and play and play those two all the time. And maybe Ren and Stimpy too but that might be more of a Nostalgia fix. Oh and the Asterix titles, at least the first one.

Wonderboy in Monsterland- not only my favourite master system game but also my all time favourite game. I play it through at least twice a month and never get bored of it.

Got to be Astro Warrior for me. It was the first game I played on my SMS. I had never really been exposed to video games before, except for a Binatone, which I bought at a jumble sale. It had a short life in my house as my dad put some cheap batteries into it, they leaked, and it was thrown away (These days I would have saved it no doubt!) I forgot about games after that, until we went on holiday and there was a small arcade which had Space Invaders, Galaga, Pac man etc. It must have been around 1986/87. I remember I really enjoyed playing those games, but never really knew home-gaming was a thing. I remember waking up in what seemed like the middle of the night, with strange noises coming from the living room. I knew my mum was away working nights, so dad was up to something. I opened the door to find him playing Astro Warrior. He didn't try to hide it, instead invited me to have a game. I was hooked, but I wasn't supposed to see this until Christmas day, so we made a deal to not tell my mum.. It was also the thing that made me realise there was no Santa Claus, but I didn't care anymore. I was getting a Master System for Xmas! I'll never forget the first time I ever beat Zanoni on my own and seeing those immortal engrish words.... Surely Revive Zanoni!!!! We had a great Christmas that year with our SMS, I also got Choplifter, Space Harrier and Shinobi and went on to choose my very own first game from Virgin Megastore - Alien Syndrome, purely on the strength of a single screenshot and awesome cover-art (compared to other early titles!) Knowing what I do now, my dad must have purchased the Dixons "exclusive" system that came with HangOn/Astro Warriror (but annoyingly no box for it) and got the Control stick for £10 when he bought the system. Good memories! Good games! Good times!
