hi all had an idea for a swap, I organise secret santa's for ananother site where i moderate and have had an idea for one here
'i wanted an sms game for christmas and all i got was this'
budget 10 euros including postage, if less thats better. what would be ideal is if we all had something awful in our collections we want to get rid of
idea: everyone wants an sms game for christmas but we all have great collections or wishlists of expensive items. how about we reverse that, with cheap and bad items. for example a terrible game, bought for example for a euro or 2, something to make us laugh on christmas day. the more creative of us can print a label for a rare game and have something ultra common like transbot inside.
what do we think?

We've had a secret Santa running around 5 years now. Budget is usually around $50.
I kind of like your idea of doing it on the cheap but given the price of postage these days and with forum members all around the world I doubt many would go for it. Doesn't make sense to me to send a $1 game that costs at least ten times that to post.
Given its September already it's probably about time to organise things for this year if its going to happen. I know Estimated Prophet has sorted things the past two years but he's not been around much of late. I'm happy to organise things if no one else does? . I've participated 4 years now so pretty familiar with the process.

Your cheap idea would work for all the UK members though for sure.

We could use sellers in the same country as our swap partners?

We could use sellers in the same country as our swap partners? Sure that could work I suppose but I think this quote from Ninjabearhug a few years back sums things up. "In all honesty though I think there comes a point for the serious collectors where it's a bit pointless taking part in this kind of thing. I'll use myself as an example: I've never taken part in this, even though every year I really want to. I know that the list of SMS (or even MD for that matter) items that I would like are either real expensive or uber rare, so to take part would be putting a huge burden on somebody. How can I expect a secret santa to magic items out of thin air on a budget when I can't find them myself without a budget!" That said, it'd be hard for most to go the cheap route. If there's no objection ill start a thread for the 6th annual sega8bit secret Santa next week. If prophet or anyone else is keen to do it that's fine, but it'd be good to get the ball rolling soon. There's a bunch of articles on the main page from previous years to check out if the newer members want to check them out.

I don't mind helping out. I think prophet usually does them but no harm in a second person helping
The idea is based on exactly the sort of thing ninjabearhug said, with my knowledge and budget a hardcore collectors wishlist would be hard whereas this is easy in comparison
