Right, feel free to shoot this idea down if its already been done (and i havent noticed it) or if its just plain lame.
my idea came from my own situation, when I bought my sms i was in a different position to a lot of you, I had never owned an sms before and didnt know what games to buy, how much they were worth etc, my missus owned an sms so I wasnt going in totally blind. the idea is this: basically we have an article on being a newbie to the sms, what to look for in terms of games, how not to get ripped off, what games are good but cheap etc (sonic, castle of illusion) maybe an updated list of retailers, who is cheap but reasonable etc?

I dont see this as a bad idea. There are already so many new collectors out there jumping on the silly NES bandwagon that the chances of some of them going for the SMS as well is bound to happen. NES is already an established community and prices are pretty much well known by all. SMS is totally different and needs well informed people putting the info out there.

It's a good idea. But have you seen the the SMS beginners guide on this forums homepage? www.smstributes.co.uk/ look on the right hand side. Though it might not include everything you mentioned.

Problem with some bligs theres that many adds on them you cant see what your looking for. Maybe an sms wika page/pages might be an idea. The Rarity list on smstributes dose give an idea of which games are easy to find. But a beginners guide would help no starters. Need any help give us a call

Sounds like a good idea. The racketboy one (http://www.racketboy.com/retro/sega/sms/sega-master-system-101-a-beginners-guide) is quite good but is a bit US-centric and comes up with a few bizarre things, like this statement listed under weakness of the console "Despite having a few excellent ports, most games that showed up on both NES and SMS seem to be inferior".
