I also registered on there to vote yes.
Personally i feel they should be free to chose the type of game they want to make. This so they can chose a genre/style that works great whit the limitations the master system brings whit it instead of fighting against it.

I just wanna push this thread again, because my thread at the WaterMelon boards still exist. Their Project Y game, the Mega Drive game, is far in development and in a few months, it should be released. I collected only 31 votes for a new Master System game since 2012, which is disappointing Maybe I could collect some more "yes" votes from people with the right arguments to convince the WaterMelon team to create a new Master System game in the future.

I'd vote yes definitely. Just wondering what kind of numbers would WaterMelon be looking for in order for them to consider developing a new MS game? Are we talking 500 or 1,000? Have you posted this again on SMS Power and other forums?
Have you asked PlayGen how many copies of Digger Chan he sold over the years? I'd guess it wouldn't be nowhere near those kind of numbers.
With the numbers of the annual UK SMS meet generally being about 8 people a year, I don't think there is enough interest for this to be anything than just a pipedream.
Pity really...

Thanks Phil! I don´t know, WaterMelon never released the number of sold Pier Solar copies, so it´s hard to say for what they are looking for. I didn´t posted it on other boards, but you know what? That´s an amazing idea, and now I begin to think about the whole thing.. and maybe, I do a bigger campaign for that thread soon!
With the right publicity, everything is possible. Especially if such an idea goes through the United Kingdom!

I'd really love to see a new game being developed, but unfortunately as Phil said I don't think there is enough interest. Generally SMS fans are much less than many other consoles and SMS "hardcore" fans are even fewer. And I'm afraid that only "hardcore" fans would at least support the creation of a new game. By "hardcore" fans I mean us, here! But not including all members, that's exactly the problem! Anyway, I hope to be wrong! I'm totally inexperienced with Facebook, but I think you could create a relative group there for more publicity... Good luck!

According to one of the developers on the SEGALOVERS forum, Pier Solar on the Mega Drive has sold about 6500 copies.
When it comes to Digger Chan, I think it's about 60 copies sold, though that's just a guess based on the two batches made so I could be really wrong, PlayGeneration should know better, if he wants to share that information.

With the likes of prototypes such as NBA Jam and Lemmings 2 surfacing recently, I think this is the best SMS fans can hope for in terms of 'new releases' unfortunately...

When it comes to Digger Chan, I think it's about 60 copies sold, though that's just a guess based on the two batches made so I could be really wrong, PlayGeneration should know better, if he wants to share that information. There are 125 copies of Digger Chan out there. That was with very limited advertisement, mostly a thread on this forum, a simple youtube video and I sent out a few to magazines/websites. I purposely didn't try and spread the word too much, simply because if I created a big demand for the game I wouldn't have been able to fulfill it. I think the right game could sell a lot of copies, its a matter of the quality/originality of the game and having the production ability and money to make a large supply. Thousands of sms games are sold on ebay every year, so there is a big potential customer base to reach of people who buy real sms games to play or collect.

lol Phil, no no^^ Look at the first post of this thread! I post it here too for you: ------------ Please support this project! This letter goes out to every Sega Master System fan around the world.
It feels like an eternity since the last game was released for our dearly beloved Master System. That sweet little treasure that brought a little kid in a red suit and a blue hedgehog to live – and into our hearts. It´s two decades later now. Everything has changed. There are many new, modern video game consoles out there and we are no kids anymore. Let´s listen to our hearts again – It says, it still loves the Master System that gave us so many hours of fun and memories. We are still kids.
But to be a grown person has some pros as well. Many of us are hobby programmers and we don´t do it in private only, but we made careers as programmers too! 2010, Pier Solar (Mega Drive). 2011, Digger Chan. 2012/13: Bread and Butter. And there are more new games out there. The developers of Pier Solar are called WaterMelon.Co. They are people like you and me – and really cool people. Their guiding principle is ´You want games, we make them.´ And they do it in a highly professional way. My goal is to convince them to do what every Master System fan on earth is wishing: A brand new game for our magical 8 bit powerhouse!
And now, it´s your turn: Release this letter on every video game forum you are registered in, and show the world that everything is possible. Everybody should register on WaterMelon´s forum to post „Yes, I want a new Master System game!“. Only together, we are able to do it.
Here is the link to the forum thread that I created in 2012: www.magicalgamefactory.com/en/boards/mgf-about_10/A-Master-System-game-from-WM_9898/
Say yes and show this world that the Sega Master System is still alive!
Cheers, Gordman

Thought I´d post some ( early) pictures of WaterMelon´s new Mega Drive game, which will be released later this year. A picture from january this year to compare (to streets of rage characters) how huge the sprites in the game will be: What I try to realize is a serious campaign and I hope that everyone knows what these WM guys can do now
