Hi, I just came back onto this site after a hiatus of about 8 years, and I was wondering if theres any way I can find the caption contests from back then? The ones that are on the site now don't go back that far. Thanks.

Hmmm, what are you talking about? Every single caption contest Ian has run is on the page, all the way back to the first.

Hi, that's what I was looking for, thanks I got a few winning captions back in those days (I was NinjaWonderBoy), and I was feeling a bit nostalgic! Nice to see the Caption Contest is still going after all these years!

I remember these well. No offense to anyone but they were just not funny, even the one I won.

I remember you being a lot more active, good vids on Youtube, interesting posts and interacting with the threads but now all I see are one-line-posts that radiate bitterness...

I check the forum multiple times per day, but I'm not the sort of person to say something for the sake of it, nor will I waffle on for ages - I'd rather get my point across and get back to whatever it was I was doing. That's not a bitter post at all - seriously you should read the caption contests!
Regarding You Tube I got bored of watching the same type of videos of people repeating the same phrases over and over again; I'd rather be gaming than hearing someone show off a battered copy of Altered Beast and Super Monaco GP. Then realising that around half of my content was opinion and the other half "pickups", I decided not to inflict others with something I disliked myself - it would be hypocritical. There just wasn't the critical mass for me to continue and there were also some traits in the community that I disliked that I started to see in myself, so knocked it on the head. There are a few people out there that I still watch from time to time (ninjabearhug and meu2 included) but as above, I'd rather be gaming!
One thing I will definitely say I'm bitter about... the state of ebay; from rip off BINmen, bad buyers and ebay policies. I'm probably not the only one here.

I think one of them made me smile, but that was about it. One thing I will definitely say I'm bitter about... the state of ebay; from rip off BINmen, bad buyers and ebay policies. I'm probably not the only one here. Seconded.

Ok, I see. This wasn't an insult or anything just so you know. Just something that I started noticing. I totally agree about eBay though and about Youtube, it's getting worse as well. There is very little decent content nowadays. XFile2708 quit his channel as well apparently because of harassment and such...

Personally I found your videos interesting because of the personal opinions. In fact I would say that's the main reason I watch most peoples YouTube videos. I find it interesting that you found some negative elements of the YouTube community rubbing of on you. I'm not sure what attributes you are referring to, but I can't say I noticed a change (before you quit that is). I can understand your decision though as I've had a lot of the same thoughts myself. I don't find my own videos particularly interesting to make, and certainly not to watch, anymore. As I've already said the main reason I watch YouTube is for the personalities, but by now I feel I don't have that much opinion to add. I can also certainly understand why Marcus closed his channel too. As for eBay; I've never had much access to retro content so eBay is pretty much my best avenue! It's certainly not the best place in the world though and I can understand every bodies frustration with the way things have gone.
